Grab life with both hands – go see some newborn lambs
The lambing1 season's upon us and many farms are opening their doors to give you a peek at their newborns. Lambing weekends are popular with children and many farms offer a whole host of fun stuff, ranging from tractor rides to animal displays, to keep everyone happy. Here's our pick of Spring lambing events . . .

8-9 March
Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park, Dorchester, West Dorset
See donkeys, miniature Shetland ponies, Boer, Toggenburg, Saanen and Angora goats, pigs, guinea pigs, rabbits, ducks and chickens, as well as new lambs. Children are even allowed to cuddle some animals at certain times of the day, and may be able to bottle feed them. There's also a play area, sand pit and willow tunnel to explore.

Reaseheath College, Nantwich, Cheshire
Around 100 ewes are due to lamb over the weekend so many visitors should be lucky enough to see a birth if they stay long enough. You'll find rabbits, guinea pigs and small reptiles, and children can 'milk' a wooden cow, climb on tractors and enter competitions.

Wimpole Home Farm, Royston, Cambridgeshire
Witness lambing at the largest rare breeds centre in East Anglia, a National Trust property that's part of the grandest working estate in Cambridgeshire. The farm boasts sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, chickens, rabbits, donkeys, ponies and horses, plus a play area, adventure woodland, shire horse wagon rides and more. See lambs in the first few hours of life and you may even spot one being born.
