M25 Final Closure

Final Weekend M25 Closure – AA Travel Advice

20 March 2025

The AA is reminding drivers of this weekend’s final planned closure of the M25 between junction 10 for Wisley and junction 11 for Woking.

Between 9pm on Friday 21 March and 6am Monday 24 March, there will be a full closure in both directions.

This scheme of work has seen a new central gyratory to improve the capacity for vehicles moving between the M25 and A3. One of the old bridges has already been demolished, this closure is to allow the demolition of the second old bridge.

“We urge drivers, particularly those in HGVs to follow the signed diversionary routes rather than using SatNav or Google Maps.”
Shaun Jones, AA Patrol of the Year

Drivers travelling clockwise will be diverted from the M25 at junction 10 to use the A3 northbound travelling via the A245 at Painshill and the A320 to rejoin the M25 at junction 11.

Those travelling anticlockwise will be diverted from the M25 at junction 11 to join the A320, then the A245 to Painshill to use the A3 southbound to rejoin the M25 at junction 10.

This is one of the busiest stretches of the M25, and is used by many drivers to get to Gatwick and Heathrow airports.

Shaun Jones, AA Patrol of the Year, said: “We urge drivers, particularly those in HGVs to follow the signed diversionary routes rather than using SatNav or Google Maps. During the previous closure (7th to 10th March), a HGV driver had to be rescued by Surrey Police from Purford Lock as they had followed Google Maps and not the agreed diversion route.

“Drivers should allow plenty of extra time for their journey, and those attending the England match on Friday evening should be aware of extra traffic after the match has ended.

“Prepare your vehicle before setting off by checking oil and coolant levels, tyres and make sure you have enough fuel or electric charge to cover the planned diversions.”
