Demand for compact crossovers continues to increase, following a trend set by cars such as the popular Nissan Juke. The latest addition to the market is Audi's Q2, which is designed to entice new - and younger - buyers to the brand. Thanks to its refined build quality and powerful line-up of powertrains, Audi regards the Q2 as the first premium model in the segment, offering customers an affordable, quality choice.
This sporty-looking SUV is the fourth - and smallest - member of Audi's Q range, alongside its larger siblings, the Q7, Q5 and Q3. Priced from GBP22,230, it's set to take on the Mercedes GLA and the BMW X2. Available in three trim levels, each of which are generously specced, the Q2 is equipped with plenty of technology.
It's quite the looker for a five-door utility vehicle. It boasts a high shoulder line and low roof that descends and merges into the C-pillars with contrasting colour offset blades. This makes for a bold and muscular stance. Up front, its high-mounted singleframe octagonal grille and large air inlets mounted on the front bumper result in a menacing look.
The Q2 incorporates the latest multimedia gadgets from the new A4 and there are three generously equipped specification levels to choose from, with the entry-level SE versions benefitting from a suite of features from standard. These include a smartphone interface, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-inch MMI screen and Bluetooth connectivity.
Offering buyers plenty of value for their money, you could describe it as a compact A4; not only is it offering premium equipment and driver engagement at a lower cost to its rivals, it's got bags of space and oozes family-friendly practicality from every corner.
