The Quiet Site, Watermillock, Cumbria
A meandering narrow road gently climbs up from the banks of Ullswater, creating a warm feeling of anticipation and on arrival at The Quiet Site, one is immediately aware of the care and thought involved in the restoration of the original stone buildings, which have been sympathetically converted into a bar and entertainment facility with original character enhanced by the decor and furnishings.
The new Zero Waste Shop, amenities blocks, offering excellent privacy options and reception are other notable buildings and on arrival the accommodation and touring areas, one is greeting by stunning views of the lake and surrounding undulating beautiful countryside. Just 20 minutes away by car you’ll find some of the best fell walking in the Lake District; maps of walks closer by are provided, including the 20-mile circular Ullswater Way that passes the impressive 20-metre high Aira Force waterfall.
Caravans, motorhomes and tents enjoy very good, level terraced pitches and at the top of the site there are camping pods and comfortable Hobbit Holes for hire. This is a site justifiably proud of its green credentials, with a bio-mass boiler that heats all the water for the toilet and shower facilities. Free WiFi is available across the whole site and a warm welcome is assured.
