"One October evening, while driving down a narrow country road, I had to swerve to avoid hitting a deer that jumped out in front of my car and I ended up in a deep ditch. Thankfully I was able to get out and up the bank to the side of the road to call the police. After asking if I was injured in any way, (which at the time I thought I wasn’t) they said that as there were no other vehicles involved they wouldn’t come out.
"They told me to call the AA though, which I did. I then called my wife who got there shortly after. It was then that I realised I had a bad cut on my head. Not long after that the AA patrol arrived.
"After assessing the situation he helped collect some belongings from the car. As he was unable to retrieve the car without lifting equipment, he phoned a local garage for help. He then told my wife to take me to the hospital while he stayed and waited for the garage. He made sure that the car was stored overnight before my insurance company transferred it to another garage.
"Although my car was written off and I suffered cuts to my legs as well as my head, plus a couple of cracked ribs, the whole accident would have been a lot more painful without the AA."
