In January this year a patrol was sent out to an elderly French lady who had broken down. The patrol ended up recovering the vehicle and dropped it and the elderly lady off at her home. However, the member had a hospital appointment the following day and she asked for an AA Patrol to come and give her a second opinion early in the morning.
That morning I picked up the job. I phoned the member to inform her of the appointment time and check that she would be in at that time. Her English wasn't great and I must admit that at times I found it difficult to understand her. Naturally this made me a bit apprehensive about the job, so I made sure that I monitored it closely.
It turned out that I needn’t had worried. The patrol met the appointment bang on time and managed to do a permanent repair on the member’s car. He also managed to fix a puncture on her pushbike – all before her hospital appointment. And no, he’s not fluent in French. But thankfully, language didn’t seem to be a barrier.
