"I’ll never forget what happened on that fateful April afternoon, three years ago. After all, it’s not every day you get hit by a bus.
"Nor will I ever forget the AA patrol who helped me after the accident.
"It was about 4pm and I had stepped off the pavement to cross the road at a busy junction in Crosby, Liverpool when a bus went through an amber light and clipped me.
"The driver obviously didn’t realise he had hit me as the bus kept going. Luckily nothing was broken and I just suffered some cuts and bad bruising – although I didn’t know that at the time of course. It was very painful and naturally I was in a state of shock.
"I didn’t know it at the time, but an AA patrol was in his van at the traffic lights opposite and saw everything. He came over and picked me up off the road, and got me safely to the pavement. He then called for an ambulance and waited with me until it came. All the time he had his arm around me and was reassuring me that I’d be fine. When I got into the ambulance he asked the paramedics which hospital they were taking me to. He then called my husband to let him know what happened and which hospital he should go to.
"I never did find out his name, but he will always be my Good Samaritan."
