When my son graduated from Newcastle University, my wife and I decided to take our elderly mothers to the ceremony with us and make a day of it.
After we had congratulated our son and he’d gone off with his friends to celebrate, we returned to my car to drive to a nice restaurant for a meal. Well that was the intention, but when we got to the car I saw the nearside front suspension had completely collapsed – so we weren’t going anywhere.
I called the AA and within 45 minutes Davie arrived in his breakdown truck. He loaded my car onto the back and asked me where we wanted to go. I told him that my wife and I lived in Guisborough, but as my mother lived in Stockton could he possible make a detour. No problem, said Davie with a smile, and off we went. From the beginning to the end of the journey Davie was pleasant and chatty, and after he had dropped my mother off safely he took my car to my local garage before finally taking my wife, my mother-in-law and myself home. In my opinion, the AA passed with honours.
