"I was driving to a job when I noticed someone struggling by the side of the road. At first I thought it was kids playing, but I then noticed a young lad running off with a handbag.
"My instincts kicked in and I gave chase over railings, embankments, across a field and into some woods. Adrenaline flowing, I managed to get the bag back and return it to the now-very-distressed woman, all in good time to get back in my van and carry on with a day’s work.
"Some time after the event, I was surprised to receive a phonecall saying I would be receiving an award for bravery. I felt really proud.
"While fixing the odd dodgy engine can be scary at times, this is one day on the job I won’t forget in a hurry."
