I was called to a breakdown in the centre of Sheffield where the Member had reported a hissing coming from her car.
I arrived, greeted the Member, and took a look at the vehicle. Definite hissing. We could both hear it. But even after I'd taken a look inside the car and at the engine, I still wasn't sure where the noise was coming from, or what it could be.
I decided to do a road test, but the car ran fine, so that didn't turn up anything definitive either. It was pretty puzzling.
Having exhausted everything else, I took a look in the boot. And within a few seconds later I'd figured it out.
It turned out that the Member had been to the gym and, in a rush, quickly thrown her bag in the car. It had landed at an awkward angle, scrunched up against some boxes.
The hissing was coming from a can of hairspray that had been jammed on its button inside the bag!
