I’ve come to the conclusion that I must have flaw in my genetic makeup, because things always seem to go wrong for me. My extra ‘trouble’ gene I call it.
Take the other morning for example. By 10.20am I had managed to not only lock my car keys in the car, but also my house keys in it as well. And where were the spare car keys? Yes you’ve guessed it, in the house along with the spare house keys. Oooppps. The only other set of keys to the house were with my husband, and he was at work 60 miles away. I dreaded having to call him and tell him that my ‘trouble’ gene had run amok and the long silence at the end of the phone confirmed that he was very cross at the prospect of having to drive home and then back to work again! That’s when I calmly said “Don’t worry darling, I’ll call the AA. I’m sure that they deal with this sort of thing all the time.”
When Andy the AA man arrived, his calm manner reassured me that everything was going to be ok – and it was. He managed to prise the top of the car door open just enough to dangle a long piece of wire through and ‘fish’ my keys off the passenger seat where I’d left them. All in all it took just a matter of minutes.
