"A while ago I was driving to work when my clutch disengaged. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the traffic was incredibly busy and I was on a bridge coming up to a roundabout. Urgh! So there I was, hazard lights on, pumping the clutch like mad (to no avail) while I gradually pulled over.
"After three cars nearly hit me, I decided to get out as I was starting to get stressed and scared – especially as I couldn’t get hold of my partner on the phone. Also, our breakdown cover renewal was on the ‘to-do list’. Grrrrr. There was nothing else for it – I called my trusty Nan and Granddad.
"I was waiting for my grandparents when a car turned on its hazards, pulled over and the driver got out to see if he could help. I was so relieved that I almost cried.
"Anyway, I told him what had happened and he said that he worked for the AA as a patrol. He than started my car and followed me to a small lay-by a bit further on. Just as we pulled in, my grandparents turned up, so I told them what this lovely AA man had done. But his kindness didn’t stop there. As he knew which part was required to fix the car, he drove me to a local garage, bought the part as I had no cash on me, drove us back and then fixed the car!
"Thank you so, so much AA Patrol Phil White – my very own knight in shining armour."
