"After a busy day I was on my way to Aldershot when, as I entered an S bend, I saw a car in front of me that was side-on across the road. As it was a particularly nasty night, with lots of rain and strong winds, I assumed that the driver must have spun out of control on the bend. I was nearly right.
"I found out what actually happened from the driver a few minutes later. Apparently, when going into the corner, the car’s throttle jammed open causing it to accelerate out of control, spin and stall. When she re-started the car, the engine just tried to rev itself into extinction so she switched it off again.
"She was still in the car phoning the AA when I arrived on the scene. I stopped my truck, lit up my orange beacons to alert any other traffic and approached the car. When I knocked on the window, the young lady gave me a very surprised look and wound down the window.
"That was quick!" she said. "Your office hasn’t even answered the phone yet!"
