If you asked me what one of the worst places to break down is, I'd tell you it's the A27, at the junction for the A26.
As if that wasn't enough of a challenge, the vehicle that was stranded was a nine-ton Army truck. Even the massive recovery truck couldn't lift it.
So we started to prepare it for towing, but the final challenge was that the chap delivering the truck to the TA centre in Eastbourne had recently had a shoulder operation so couldn't steer it without any power steering to help him.
I still wasn't beaten! I have an HGV licence, so I steered while the recovery truck towed. We made it to the TA centre and celebrated with a well-earned cup of tea.
