Overall rating 4.5/5The Peugeot 3008 was an example of customer requirements moving away from traditional MPVs to high-riding SUVs. As a result, what had started out as a curvaceous MPV soon switched to an SUV, with the second-generation 3008 being the most common sight on the used market today.

Overall rating 4.5/5Still remaining as focused on practicality as the original car, the second-generation 3008 introduced more technology than before as well as a wider range of efficient engines. With some chunky plastics giving the 3008 the look of an off roader, the 3008 was an instant hit with families and remains a great choice on the used market.
It’s packed with safety equipment, too, and had a higher level of build quality than seen on other similarly aged Peugeot cars.

When tested by Euro NCAP in 2016 the Peugeot 3008 was awarded the maximum five stars. It recorded an 86 per cent rating for adult protection, alongside 85 per cent for child occupant protection. A big addition is automatic emergency braking which can help to avoid by activating the brakes more quickly than the driver would be able to react.
The Peugeot 3008 range starts with a compact 1.2-litre petrol, moving through to a more powerful 1.6-litre petrol which gets an automatic gearbox as standard. Diesels include a 2.0-litre version and a later 1.5-litre version. From 2019, the 3008 was also available as a plug-in hybrid which can return up to 40 miles of electric power - though you’ll need somewhere to plug it in and charge.
All versions of the 3008 come well equipped, with rear parking sensors, Bluetooth and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Those latter smartphone functions help to make mirroring your phone’s apps on the main display much easier. Higher grades of 3008 include further safety equipment, such as active lane keeping assistance, as well as a rear-view camera and larger wheels.
All versions of the 3008 should prove good on fuel, with even smaller-capacity petrol variants able to deliver up to 55mpg, though these figures were produced under older NEDC testing regimes. Diesel-powered cars should return up to 70.6mpg while official figures for the plug-in hybrid state it could return up to 222.3mpg - though that’s only when the batteries are fully charged.
Its popularity as a family car means that many areas of the 3008 could be susceptible to damage. We’d recommend checking the interior upholstery for rips and stains, as well as the seatbacks to make sure they haven’t been kicked. More information can be generated through an AA vehicle inspection, conducted by a technician that will take a closer look at any vehicle you’re considering the purchase of.
Peugeot 3008 vehicles are largely reliable, though owners have highlighted some electrical issues, as well as exhaust problems with diesel-powered models. If you want more information on any car, you’re looking at an AA vehicle inspection can help. A trained engineer will conduct a road test and provide a report on the car highlighting any potential issues.
The 3008 is available with engines ranging in size from a 1.2-litre petrol through to a 2.0-litre diesel. A plug-in hybrid model is also available.
