We drove a very different type of vehicle on Saturday 7 July. For the first time ever we took part in the Pride in London Parade, with over 30 members of staff hopping on board (or alongside) our float as it wound its way through central London.
Over 1 million people lined the streets to see the procession, kicking off near Regent’s Park through to Trafalgar Square and, eventually, Whitehall. Representatives from across the LGBT+ community take part each year, to celebrate how far minority rights have come.
Our float – a specially-adapted flatbed truck – was of course ready for anything on the road ahead. We were the first to do road signs, so it was only right that our float included our first Pride-themed ones. Our 'Prideway Code' reminded everyone attending of the rules of the Pride road – have fun and be yourself.
Our Pride team were on hand to give out badges so that people watching the parade could take a bit of the Prideway Code home with them. The team looked the part, too – with rainbows, face paint and glitter galore.
We’re proud to have had a serious part to play on the day too. Several of our rainbow-wrapped vans patrolled the event at Oxford Circus and Pall Mall, helping make sure that the parade ran like clockwork.
The atmosphere was electric and we’re proud to have shown that, whoever you are, we’ll get you there.
