Best car I've ever owned!
Added: 13th of September 2016
This car ticked all my boxes when I was searching for a new car. Having Business edition ensure that I have got all the upgrades I need (sat-nav, leather, MP3, Bluetooth). Best of all it has never broke, it gives me 50MPG with 172BHP. Just what I need.

Exlellent amazing car which is so lovely and smooth to drive so far . I have filled the tank up and will definitely know later on how many miles it can do on however many litres.

Excellent quality vehicle with first class sales and service backup. I can't fault the engine which is very powerful and reliable. Suspension is good but the car only feels at its best when in Sports mode. Then cornering, acceleration and steering feels optimal. I am not a fan of the Run Flat tyres which have a tramline effect in straight lines but are safe and hold the road well. Noise suppression is good but would be better without RF tyres I suspect. I don't feel secure without a spare tyre despite the assurances that RF tyres claim. I have seen tyres shred on a pothole and can't be driven a further mile, never mind 50. All the equipment is very good and has a quality feel. GPS is superb as is the Digital radio and connections to media through phones or flash drives. Speakers are brilliant and phone calls are a breeze for clarity. Extras like heated seats are usually expensive but worth it. I have reduced the stars given for space and practicality as I find the low seat difficult to get in and out of, plus the lack of versatility to drop the back seats means I cant transport my bicycle without investing in expensive roof racks and the lifting involved in those. Perhaps I should have bought an estate? In summary I love the car for its capabilities in terms of speed - although the top speed of 146 mph is not of much use here in the UK but the acceleration certainly is for safe overtaking in the blink of an eye. I love the quality and reliability of its build using excellent materials throughout. MPG for me is a constant 52.7 although better on the occasional long journey I make.

I BOUGHT THIS BMW AS MY HUSBAND HAS THE SAME CAR AND I LOVE DRIVING IT. THIS ONE IS FROM THE EFFICIENT DYNAMICS SERIES AND MY MILEAGE IS EVEN BETTER, AVERAGING 58 MPG ON A MIX OF MOTORWAY AND TOWN DRIVING. GOOD SPEC WITH SAT NAV AND LEATHER SEATS, ETC COULD ONLY GIVE 4 FOR RELIABILTY AS I REALLY HAVEN'T HAD LONG ENOUGH TO ASSESS ALL IT LACK IS A SPLIT REAR SEAT. VERY PLEASED

Excellent performance for a 4 cylinder diesel, enjoyable handling and cornering, RWD makes for excellent balance, steering is a little light at low speeds, space is OK once in, but due to my height gaining access is more difficult than in my previous E39 generation, and it is obviously a smaller car all round, but easier to park as a result. Fuel economy is also excellent with 600 miles easily achievable from one tank in mixed driving. Warranty and service package round out an excellent purchase.

the car is adequate in performance, the cost of running it is ok, the comfrt is exceptional, the reliability is first class, the safety is first class but the space in the boot could be improved and the rear seats are cramped

I always aspired to a BMW and, with one exception, I was not disappointed with my second BMW. (My first was a BMW Isetta 'bubble car' which died in 1968!) Even though it is far from the latest model, it looks good and provides a comfortable ride. The interior looks classy with its walnut inserts. I was concerned about my first diesel engine combined with my first automatic in terms of performance. I need not have worried. I have only to think 'overtake', and there I am past that tractor or wagon clogging up the A19 to York. The design puts looks over practicality for storage space but, with a little help from a roof-box, my wife and I have taken the grandchildren on holidays, including to Europe. Fuel consumption is frugal, and maintenance costs have been, surprisingly, modest, helped by using a local independent BMW specialist rather than a dealership. And the grouse... I am annoyed on every trip. The speedometer reads over 10% high. If I drive at an indicated 30mph, I frustrate the drivers behind even more than when I drive at an indicated 34mph, which, I have checked, is actually 30mph. I have to drive at an indicated 56mph through 50mph average speed controlled zones in order to keep up with the traffic. - This is so annoying that I may not risk buying another BMW in the future.

Still satisfied with this car after 2 years and 25k miles. I would still buy another BMW It fully meets my requirements both for work and now I'm retired.

Excellent car. Only a couple of minor warranty issues all sorted quickly by the dealer.

Simply faultless. This car has it all. If you're prepared to spend a decent amount of money on this car then you'll be rewarded in the long run, with low road tax, good fuel economy too.

Great car for all-round use (apart from in ice/snow) but maintaining it can be somewhat costly without researching options.

I am a garage owner of specialised cars. I have owned many cars over the years and once I get tired of them they get changed. This model however (2007 year) ticks all the boxes and I cannot say what I could replace it with! It is docile in traffic.... it performs brilliantly....it is VERY economical.......it has cheap road tax.......its handling and driveability is second to none! Only two negatives Only have one of these if you are happy with a FIRM ride...it has to be this way to give you its superb handling. I dont like the stop start system (it has to speed up the demise of the battery and starter motor) although you can over ride the system you have to do this every time you start up as defaut mode is on. Finally there has been a lot of bad press regarding timing chain failure, but if the car has regular servicing and you report any new noise to your garage IMMEDIATELY then you should not suffer failure and caught early I have heard BMW can be sympathetic if your car is out of warranty. (Dont quote me on this ) I have owned mine now for over three and a half years with a broken front road spring being my only problem but who has not suffered this with any car today (lets thank the government road policy)

Lovely car, great acceleration, never let me down, good heating + air control so can have warm toes and cold face.Heated seats very comfy, good for backache after a long day. Easy instrument panel. Can use manual gears if necessary. I bought a proper spare wheel,(instead of the silly space-saver toy wheel) which fitted perfectly into the spare wheel space. Really impressive headlights. Fabulous radio/cd-changer. Rear passenger space cramped and difficult to get in and out and boot not very big but split rear seats so could get 7ft Christmas tree in! Nice colour too! Sunroof not as good as in previous model. Not very practical as a family car but perfect for my work which involved long distances, often in poor weather.

I had a BMW previous to the above car that I really loved. My present BM Has very little storage facilities whatsoever unless I pay more for there 'Comfort Pack'. The glove compartment is just about that very small. the front side 'pockets' are very shallow and do not hold very much at all. There is no storage at all in the rear of the car. Of course when we test drove the car we did not notice the inadequacies until we purchased it. I could have bought webbing pockets for the rear seats for around forty pounds per pocket!! This has shaken my faith in BMW
