Having owned my Jag from new for 2.5 years and reading the other reviews i felt i had to put my experience to add balance. My experience has been brilliant, its a wonderful engine, powerful and exciting yet economical, over 50mpg, if driven with that in mind. Beautiful to look at, substantial when you close the door, comfortable and great to drive. I have had no problems with anything so as this is my first Jag (for over 25 years, XJ6) I'm impressed. I agree with one of the other reviewers that some may consider it a risk but you can only go by your own experience and mine has been good. So the big question is 'would i buy again' and the answer is yes i would!

I’ve had the F-Pace R Sport from new and as I write this review, it’s not quite 4 years old but has just returned from the garage after its 4th significant failure. The first 2 years were not bad and aside from a sat nav which has map updates from the 90’s I couldn’t really complain. Come year 3 and the trouble started. Initially the alarm system kept failing, this then led to the stop start function failing and was closely followed by the air con unit. The air con system needed a complete replacement. It gets better. The Turbo blew and shards of fan were ingested into various components requiring a complete new engine, turbo and everything which connects that could be impacted. The latest issue was a broken diesel exhaust recirculation filter which in turn caused a melting of wires surrounding it. Upon inspection, the jag garage then discovered the replacement turbo which was less than 12 months old also had an oil leak which needing fixing. Finally and this is my own fault I really wish I’d got the 4wd version because quite honestly if you’re on a hill and get a few wet leaves under the rear tires, you’ll be going nowhere. It’s pathetic in anything other than perfect conditions and going off road even on damp grass is asking for trouble. On the positive side, it looks great, drives well and for its size is economical to run. I’ve had 50mpg on longer journeys where I’ve not been too heavy on the gas. Would I recommend it? Honestly only if you’re someone who’s happy to take the risk.

To be honest this is a nice car I have only had a couple of minor issues with the boot dropping out of alignment and a similar issue with the headlamp washers. What really lets the car down is the "In Touch" system it constantly gives problems which are intermittent and the dealer is unable to fix. For example the TA (Traffic announcement) keeps turning itself off, and when on rarely pick anything up and when it does, it cuts our part way through! It loses my phone connection and your have to re-enable, the rear camera works sometime and no forgetting you have to pay for SAT Nav updates. It spoils what is otherwise a nice car hence I will not be buying another Jaguar.
