Over 10 years of relatively carefree motoring - apart from battery problems!

I brought this car for £1500 in 2006 and in that time it has a rear wheel cylinder, 4 tyres, an ignition coil and an ecu. And I had to make a new rear exhaust section because I am like that, tight. Reliabity wise it's been good. But the build quality is appalling. The switch gear is rubbish. The wire for a fuel injector fell out of the ecu plug! The rear axle is a Dana 45 which is not a good axle, it suffers from excessive end float and lsd squawk I expected better from a roughty toughty go any where car. It drives well and the 6 cylinder pulls well which is just as well because the engine is not rev happy.

I've had mine since 2006, bought from a main dealer who'd used it as a demonstrator, so it was very low mileage and very well maintained. My wife and I have just returned from a journey to Vienna, the return journey via Bremen. The car was comfortable, and easily maintained a good cruising speed on the autobahns. Economy waas reasonable at 37mpg - very good considering it's fitted with a suspension lift, underbody armour, and snorkel. It took our luggage and more importantly a LOAD of stuff we'd bought on holiday. It is remarkably manoeverable - with a very tight turning circle and in fact I can get into parking spaces that previously I'd have had difficulty getting into in my Peugeot 306. Visibility is excellent through large windows all round. The diesel engine is not too loud, and conversation is easily maintained at motorway speeds at a normal speaking volume. Acceleration - while no sports car, is perfectly adequate to make progress and overtake, although it is definately not a racer! As with any vehicle, regular maintenance is essential and things will wear out and need replacement - tyres, exhaust, brake parts; recently the pipefrom the auto transmission box to the cooler began to leak and had to be replaced - but these are the sort of things one can expect from any vehicle after its been in use for a few years. We are both very happy with it and have no plans to replace it.

I bought this car from new in 1993. My previous car was small and I had 1 year driving experience. Right from the start I loved this one. Easy to drive, trouble free, excellent performance and most of all great fun. It has often gone off road in very steep woodland and copes easily. The only major thing to go wrong was something made in Britain. We are long-time fans of American cars, my husband has had several and now has a Cadillac. He is so impressed with my Jeep that he bought another one, 1996, as a shared back-up car. I would recommend this model to anyone who wants a good all-purpose car. Excellent value for the price. In my opinion far better than a Range Rover.

This is my second experience with a Jeep, this one being the Limited Edition model.I find it stylish;just the right size, my previous Jeep was a Grand Cherokee & great fun to drive. It's comfortable with leather heated seats; great for those winter days & has plenty of rear space for those shopping bags!!Driving position is great, especially for someone with chronic back problems.Clear view through windscreen & side windows.Diesel makes it more economical to run, unfortunately the engine is very noisy but you do get used to it.It drives well on the motorway where you can take advantage of the cruise control.I would add that the heater isn't as efficient as I would like it to be & you have to turn it up to 3 before you notice it getting warm. I don't know if that has been improved on the newer models. All in all I am & always have been a fan of the Jeep.

I have owned this vehicle from new and it is the second of this model that I bought. Very pleased with it and cannot find any replacement. I will probably keep it until it falls to bits.

She is an old Jeep, has some squeeks and rattles and some minor faults like any car that's 16 years old but runs and looks better and more reliable than the 2004 VW Touran we replaced it with. She is a bit thirsty as you would expect but pulls like a tank and the engine sound great, the family love her She has personality. She is nice and easy to spot in the supermarket car park rather than a lot of the generic looking cars you see today.

My car is a limited edition. It is the best car I have ever had.
