I find the car easy to drive and, these days, great to get around when the snow arrives. Without this car I would have trouble getting to work.

I have owned the Freelander for six years now, and during that time I have had no cause for complaint with the vehicle. My only complaints would be toward the dealerships, which in my opinion tend to profiteer from any on costs that are required when owning the vehicle, i.e. Servicing, Repairs and upgrades.

2.2 stop start engine - have driven land rovers for neatly 10 years now. Very satisfied with them - highest concern is safety for me.

Comfortable and spacious.Good performance (160bhp version)but not as economical as some (33mpg short runs, up to 40 longer runs.) 1500 mile trip to south of spain last year - still comfortable after 4 days driving. Ideal for country living and for trips to the french /austrian alps.

Have only had this for 4 days and I love it. I feel very safe in it, and I love the "high up" driving position. Probably not the most economical, and hard to give a subjective review after such a short time.

The Freelander 2 has as good performance as if not better than any 2.2 diesel, running costs are a little high (dealer serviceing being the the main cost), Cant complain about the comfort it gives a very smooth ride regardles of the terrain which makes it a very practical vehicle and one I would certainly consider next time.

My second Freelander 2 and it's reliable economical, enjoyable to drive and gets me to work appointments and back to home in all weathers. Floods, leaves, snow and ice pose no problem to my sure-footed friend. After 3 Discoverys its a lively performer and regularly delivers 41-42 MPG. I will definitely buy another when this is worn out - yes, 10 months and 18,000 miles already!

A robust practical vehicle, adequate performance and superb comfort. I live in the country and frequently travel down farm tracks etc, so this type of transport is ideal. Running costs are sensible, fuel consumption good . It tows my caravan well, a 20' model, 1300 kg. Went to Austria, Italy etc this summer over high passes , averaged 29mpg over 3200 miles. Never missed a beat, dog loved it.

Very much as expected - BUT the delivered MPG is, of course, much lower than the quoted figures because it is relatively low mileage and Mainly local(ish) journeys but performs better on longer journeys: the 6th gear is somewhat a waste of time as the revs at 70+MPH are only just over 2k and any slight slope drags at its heels at that speed (better if one travels normally at 80+MPH); servicing is ludicrously expensive through main agents and, as ever, there is no way of monitoring whether it is done properly and therefore if you are getting proper value for money; minor spares from manufacturer(e.g. wiper blades, footwell mats) are, again, ludicrously expensive.

Moving to the back of beyond has necessitated getting a 4x4. We asked around and the Freelander was recommended. I have a Chevrolet Spark but buy struggles to get up the hills surrounding our town and will not get out if the town in winter. The Freelander handles the hills, tight bends and tight lanes smoothly. On the motorway it cruises with ease and hardly uses any diesel.

Have had the Freelander for coming on three years trouble free motoring. I field trial two dogs so am often in fields and rugged tracks, the Freelander copes magnificently with all. Combined with a set of winter tyres and correct selected drive it has never let me down in winter conditions.

The freelander does just what it says on the tin, gives you freedom to move around whatever the weather or road conditions, plenty of space for camping equipment, and very reliable.

This is a very well made car that copes well with the vagaries of the British weather as well as providing outstanding performance on the motorway.

One of the best models of Landrover I have ever owned and I have owned them all except Range Rovers.

This is my second Freelander 2 and both of them have been totally reliable over the last five years. Having driven over 40 Company owned or privately owned vehicles in the last 45 years covering in excess of 1.5 million miles the Freelander2 has proved to be the most comfortable, flexible, carry almost anything, take you anywhere in any conditions reliable transport I have known. The fact it is manufactured in England, stands out against its contempories and allows me to enjoy a sense of occasion each time I drive it just adds to its impressive abilities. The only car I may consider exchanging it for would be a diesel electric hybrid version when it becomes available.

Having just returned from and extensive tour of Scotland, I have found the Freelander to be a superbly capable and comfortable vehicle. It is not the most economical vehicle however the ability to do anything you ask of it is easily recompense for this. This is my third Freelander- previous models suffered the usual faults and cost quite a lot to keep running. The mark 2 is a completely different car, powerful, comfortable and reliable although the servicing costs are still on the high side. I would definitely buy another one and it is now interesting to see that Land Rover Freelander 2 is in the top 10 cared to pass the first MOT. The only thing that seems to have a mind of its own is the 'Stop Start' function that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't! I have the S model which does not have the 'bells and whistles' but I do think that LR could give you a bit more for your money rather than having to stump up an extra £5k for the GS model - a rear parcel shelf should be standard as should a spare wheel, after all 4X4s are built to be used!

I have enjoyed the experience of owning a landrover. One year on from purchase I have not experienced any problems. All round vision is great and fuel consumption is as good as expected. It would have been good to have had a heated front screen as supplied with the Ford Mondeo but the screen demist is excellent.I am looking forward to many happy years in this vehicle.

Excellent all round 4x4, does exactly what I want it to do with no problem. I understand the car and it's capabilities.

Very comfortable and practical car, reassuring to drive in bad weather/wnter conditions. Areas that need improvement are the brakes as it is a heavy vehicle to bring to a halt and the headlights which are poor for a quality vehicle in standard specification (an upgrade is expensive).

I love this car. It is reliable, safe, comfortable and a joy to drive. I had been looking at a Discovery but economics made me lower my expectations. I'm glad I did. I think I made them right choice. My next car (in a approximately 3 years) will be the same again.
