I had an R50 Cooper 2003 generation and the drive was fun. But at 26mpg average i prefered driving my classic BMW 728i as it drank the same! So i went for the wafting limo everytime. However, after driving an R56 D i was impressed with the torque and mpg. So i decided that was the choice as my daily driver so the limo could be enjoyed at weekends. I was super lucky to find a 2010 Cooper D with a jcw factory option fitted kit and bigger S wheels. What a fantastic car! It goes so much better than the stats would have you believe. Not much goes past me and i can travel at motorway speeds (plus) and still return 54.4mpg. It is a proper little hot hatch. Driver feedback and practicality make it perfect. I have had several MX5's and i would rate the driving experience of my Cooper way better and i was surprised at that. The limo is enjoying its rest. And despite the leather, pimped out windows, and rare drive i keep using the Cooper! If you are thinking of getting one i would say do it!! I have a Ford Capri, and have had fast Jap coupes (turbo etc), fast BMW's, a jag, loads of desirable cars. But my Cooper feels one of the best i have had. And it has a lot to stand up too but it meets all my expectations and more. I paid peanuts for it as well. I love it. This one is a keeper.

First time mini owner and thoroughly enjoying the experience. Bought the car nearly new and have used the additional TLC XL package for servicing. Power:weight ratio means this is has reasonable acceleration, although sluggish compared to petrol versions and has the clatter of a diesel engine. Ground clearance is particularly low so beware of very uneven surfaces and especially road humps etc as these will give you a scraping sound and the fear of ripping of the front trim. On the plus side economical to run, and has so far been reliable. Of course the car is small, so comfort is compromised especially when carrying rear seat passengers (whose ride can be a bit nausea inducing), but have done a few car boot sales and astonised people with what you can actually fit in when the back seats are folded down. With the seats up boot space is tight for the shopping, so often have to fold the seats down for this. All in all a great, fun car to have and has been a pleasure to own. Considering a Countryman for the more rural environment and reduce the risk of grounding or front end damage!

Great all round car with good performance but low running costs. I would be upset to lose this car so would probably replace with a newer model of the same (first time ever to have done this in 25 years of driving) Just sad that people make assumptions about the type of person you are when you drive a Mini, e.g.assume you want to drive fast and have often been messed about on the road....did not happen with last car so can only assume it is what I am driving. Small boot but back seats fold down so quickly and easily that no problem when doing a big food shop!
