I have 30 years of motor trade exoerience and I see many people bash on these cars. Every car on the road has annoying expensive faults. Stating that its a "Poor" mans Audi TT etc. I have to just point out, this should have been what the Audi TT was. anyone has ever owned German cars long enough cannot seriously look me in the eyes and say build quality or reliabilty lol. German cars have kept me in business. Peugeots are no different. All I do everyday is repair timing chains and tensioners on German vehicles. These are absolutely fine, I have owned mine for just over 3 years and it has had a few little faults, but to repair them has cost me less than a fifth of what other cars have cost me. If you can afford an Aston Martin or a Bentley, good luck, Ill see you in the workshop next year for a list of faults ;)

I bought my 2011 RCZ about a year ago and yes, the unreliability issues are true to some extent. I have the 200 bhp, petrol version, which my extensive research suggested was the one to go for. It isn't only the extra 44 bhp over the standard model, it is the more sportier suspension set up that sets it above its lesser sibling. The standard car is based on the 308 and thus has the handling of one. The 200 THP version feels like a proper sports car and not like a family hatchback. I test drove a standard car and it did not feel that special to me, especially on country roads. While the 200 bhp car that I ended up buying felt like it was on a whole different level, although the firm ride might not be to everyone's liking, but it is a sports car after all. The interior is something else. The dashboard is covered in black leather, with white stitching, as are the door cards. It is a very nice, comfortable, quiet place to be. Mine was cheap, quite possibly the cheapest, running 200 THP on the market and when I made an offer, (quite a low one, as a starting point for negotiations), it was immediately accepted. I did some quick calculations and the deal was struck. But I have had to replace a VANOS camshaft sensor, (very cheap and very easy), the first time the EML came on. Then, shortly afterwards, the dreaded orange light was on again, this time the codes suggested the dreaded timing chain issue. However, a bit of research on google and a bit of poking around, revealed that the chain was fine, but the tensioner was shot. A new tensioner, again relatively cheap and not too difficult to replace, and things were good again. Which did not last long. Next up, the car would stutter under acceleration and again the orange light from hell would come on. This time it was the high pressure fuel pump that was at fault. This was not cheap to replace, but I was able to get a new one from someone on ebay, significantly cheaper than buying one from Peugeot and changed it myself. again, not a very difficult job and one that took less than an hour to do. Since then, I have enjoyed about six months of trouble free motoring. Yes, things wear out, parts need to be replaced sometimes and if you are unlucky enough, like me, to buy one just as things are giving up, then it can take a bit of time, effort and money to put them right. But even after all the work and parts, (including having the rear left quarter repaired where the previous owner had either been hit, or hit something himself), I still own one of, if not the cheapest RCZ 200THP on the road. I could sell it tomorrow and make a nice profit, but I didn't do all that work to let someone else enjoy it. If you buy a good one, with a comprehensive service history, that has clearly been well looked after, then you should be fine. Keep the oil fully topped up with good grade oil at all times and the timing chain should outlive the car, as long as you replace the tensioner every 40,000 miles or so. Most issues in that area are caused by bad ownership. I love mine, but I just wish that I had more time to enjoy it, as I have a company car which I use most of the time. Although, the wife absolutely loves driving about in it.

Iv got a 2012 Rcz, I fell in love with it's sleek appearance and amazing lines and looks and that's all this car is, it's one of the most unreliable car iv had in 20 years of driving, common faults are timing chain and guides fail, high pressure fuel pump will die, never ending oil leaks, the list goes on, iv spent thousands on repairs in the last 2 years of ownership, the N14 engine is the worse engine you can have, peugeot made a beautiful car what a shame it's engine is so unrealiabe come on peugeot uv been around for over 100 years surely you should be able to make a half decent engine that's does not break every other day.

What a car! I bought the car and then Covid-19 occured so a delay in getting it. I've had two BMW Z3's, Porsche Boxer S (amazing car), Aidi (haha whoops Audi) TT which was a good all rounder. I've had a few and I much say that this amazing white diesel underdog put a smile on my face when I test drove it. Absolutely love it and even though the interior is nothing like the Audi TT which is stunning, the RCZ is still a stunning affordable car which is very Quirky in it's own right.

On a good day, the RCZ was a fast (but rather firm and bumpy) ride with sloppy (indifferent) steering. A nice big boot for a sporty car. On a bad day it displayed error codes, had trips to the garage for repairs and exceeded warranty claims. An example of repairs within a few months (10,000 miles) of ownership: 1. Ignition coil and plug failure, 2. Engine oil leaks, 3. Turbo hose cracked, 4. Fan control module failure, 5. Fuses blown, 6. Coolant pump failure, 7. Coolant system leak, 8. Tensioner slippage. The least reliable car I've owned in over 20 years. I don't hammer my cars. Perhaps I'm just unlucky. This was my first (and will be my last) Peugeot car. The phrase 'never judge a book by it's cover' is worth remembering. The RCZ isn't called 'the poor mans Audi TT' for nothing.

The Peugeot RCZ coupe is attractive to drive as it is attractive on the eye and the purse strings. Its large interior is very deceptive once you sit inside compared to its medium size exterior, but once comfortably settled a light touch on the accelerator is all it takes to embark on amazing driving experience. Its been 2 weeks since my purchase and dont think I will part with this throbbing machine until it can no longer keep up with my expectations.. Regards Ms Paula Brown

Once I adjusted the seat and mirrors I enjoyed an amazing 63 minutes on the M11 from Harlow Essex to Cambourne in Cambridgeshire set to the soundtrack of Verve. It hugs the road and corners well, excellent braking system and in 26 degree heat the A/C is a breeze. Its comfortable light for lady drivers.. can wait for an upgradge 3 years from now. Paula Brown

Great car to drive, great cornering, great looks! Quite a hard ride but acceptably so. Over 40 mpg on average so fairly economical for this type of car. Servicing costs reasonable. Boot space good though not always the easiest to get things in and out of. Size is good though - a bit of a tardis! Back seats might as well not be there unless you have small children. A few niggles with recurring faults, but all in all I love it!!
