Old fashioned pal said 'you must have a cool red car when you're 50 and you must have an Alfa one day'.....so I combined the two and haven't looked back! More fun to drive than the golf I commuted in, more idiosyncratic than most other vehicles with interesting faults usually around suspension issues or more worryingly the motor control computer......but hey, I like it and it's hardly ever let me down. It's also a lovely red. And the one I've got now is approaching 100,000 miles so I guess I'll have to get another soon.......

I love my Alfa. I bought it being aware that they had a not entirely positive reputation for reliability but did not let this point put me off. I made a good decision, the car has never let me down but constantly put a smile on my face. I've had comments of "nice car mate" and it got the nod from my 11 year old nephew, praise indeed! I love the fact that the 147 is a rare car and the limited edition Collezione I have is rarer still being 1 of only 500 produced. To balance things out, I have to confess it's a little thirsty but perhaps the fact it encourages enthusiastic driving goes somewhere to explain this. I'd prefer a bit more storage/cubby holes in the cabin and the boot is rather small. I'm 6ft tall and do have to have the seat fully pushed back, so if your well over 6ft tall, sorry you're gonna need to stand in a press for a bit! I will certainly be owning more Alfa's in the future and can definitely recommend one if you'd rather stand out from the crowd as apose to the golfs, focus's & astra's etc everyone else seems to drive......

My 4th little Alfa Romeo and all have been reliable, fun and characterful. The secret is to buy a used one so that the odd manufacturing errors have been fixed by the first owner. They're cheap to maintain if you use an independent garage. Don't what ever you do, use a main Alfa dealership.

This is a good looking drivers car with good road holding and performance. It came with lots of gadgets as standard. Fuel consumption is high and the boot is not that large. I have had a few electrical problems but the car continues to perform and has been repaired by local garages which is a considerable saving from going to the offical dealer.

I love my Alfa. It's stylish and has plenty of power. the main problem is electrics, especially warning lights. I will definitely buy another one.

A fun car that drives with the grip of a go-cart.

I love my car, it is so reliable, comfortable and the running costs are acceptable (though I am not happy with the current cost of fuel!). It is versatile and the back seats can be lowered to carry lots of stuff to the recycling centre etc. She is good on long runs on the motorway as well as round and about town. I love the large doors which makes it easy to get in and out. The only con is the fact that it has low profile tyres and I feel every bump on roads with a bad surface or with manholes etc. Would be reluctant to give us my dear little car!
