Loved this car. Felt like it had been hewn from a single ingot. Very very nice interior, wonderful stance, great looker. Things do go wrong on the car, parts are not too expensive, get it dealer serviced, mine was , owned from new finally scrapped after 13 years and 116000 miles. Car was the most unlucky car I have ever owned, crashed into 4 times, none my fault, twice when it was parked, leading to scrapping, but everything was perfect before the final impact. Not sure they make cars this good anymore, but I am biased. Negatives? Mine had 140bhp, would torque steer out of roundabouts if pushing on, and forget about s bends, the engine is so far forward it just takes over and will scare you to death. You will not do it again. Its a paper tiger car, looks fast, but beware. But i loved it. L

Simple, they don't make them like this anymore. Too interested in silly things like, plug an I-pod in and cup holders than good old fashioned engineering.

I bought my approved used Audi 80 from an Audi dealer for £6000 in May 2001 with 35,000m on the clock,in nearly new condition with one previous owner and FSH.It was an exceptional buy as the dealer was selling it on for one of their customers who had terminal cancer.I was newly widdowed and needed a really reliable car as I was still working and driving 46 miles round trip to work several times a week plus another 60miles round trip once weekly to do some charity work as a trustee. That wonderful car has cost me less to run, year by year than any other less quality car I have ever had. I can only drive an Automatic car and this one has just suited my needs perfectly. It is very comfortable to get in and out of and the adjustable steering column and driver seat height adjustment has meant that my increasing arthritis has not been a problem. It has loads of space and carries four large adults very comfortably. As a turbo-deisel, it has done around 32mpg round town and 37 or more on the motorway. It's a GREAT motorway car!! It now has 166,000 miles on the clock! I have kept it serviced to the uttermost and that has certainly paid off in terms of feeling secure in it.It has passed it's MOT every year except once when a failed lamp had to be replaced! My only complaint (and it's not a serious one, is that the low level of the upper boot sill makes it hard to get tall things into easily. I usually have to put down the drivers side back seat flat and slide tall things in from the rear door instead of from the boot. Sadly this car is coming to the end of it's life for me as the fuel pump is failing and at over a £1000 for a new one and at the trusted advice of my AA trained garage owner, I need to look for a different car. I can't afford another Audi now I'm retired and I am having a very hard time looking at newer cars as I am so spoiled by my Audi's performance, comfort and reliability and the newer less expensive ones seem so cheap and tinny looking on the insides. My sons tell me my Audi has been a 'one-off' and I may never find (in time) an equivalent replacement (they drive Audi's too!)But God has looked after me with that car and I trust He will help me find a new one that's right for me during the remainder of my driving life. (I am now 70yrs old and planning on driving for quite a while yet, God willing!))
