I've had a couple of 320d X drive previously and thought they were great cars, reliable, decent power and handling....then I sweet talked my wife into getting the 335d X drive. All I can say is phenomenal, what an engine, hit the accelerator and the twin turbos kick in and launch you to 62 mph in under 5 seconds, and it just smiles and keeps pulling you forward pushing you into the seat. For a car with 313 bhp the fuel consumption is pretty good, although to be honest nowhere near the official BMW figures, but I wasn't naive enough to believe them anyway. Ride is a bit firm but not unexpected for the m spec, and not unduly rough. Automatic 8 speed gearbox is as good as it gets. Interior feels plush, controls not over complicated, and I've had for nearly 2 years with no mechanical issues so far, has sailed through mot . Only thing to bear in mind is road tax which can bite you, depending on age will cost £500 per year.

After decade of driving Jaguars I made the switch to a 335d xdrive msport 2 years ago as it was one of the few cars on the market which offered good performance, AWD and decent fuel economy. Things I really like about it are the engine which is simply fabulous, the AWD system and the gearbox which is really smooth. These combined take the car from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds, which is pretty fast for any car let alone a diesel. This I don't like are the cheap leather seats and the interior which doesn't look any where near as refined as you find in other luxury brands. The reliability has been really good, no issues at all in the 2 years I've owned it and I would buy one again as I paid £20k for it when it was 4 years old and for that sort of money I don't believe there is a better all round car out there.

After coming from an early Bmw 330d touring, this has been a fantastic upgrade. The performance of this car is amazing for a standard car, the power is very linear and the delivery is just great! My previous 330d was well modified but this 335d is much faster in standard form. Comfort wise, this is fine for me and performs well in the corners, however as it's the M-sport it does have a stiff ride. Those wanting more comfort should opt for the SE model instead. With regards to space and practicality, it seems to have less available boot space than that of my old e46 touring and with no spare wheel or well, it's a bit of a concern if anything were to happen miles from home! Bad move BMW. even a space saver would suffice (but the twin exhaust system probably wouldn't allow for the well) Running costs, it's easy to assume that being a diesel, it'll be cheap to run. That isn't the case if you like to drive fast or hastily. However, it can lap up the motorway miles with no effort and little fuel if you're reserved with the throttle. But have a bit of fun with the flappy paddles and sport mode it'll soon swap the MPG for SPG (Smiles Per Gallon

Best car I've ever owned. Quick handles well and not expensive to run.

Have had my 335i now for a year and cannot fault it. It looks like an ordinary four door saloon, no go faster stripes, rear spoiler etc, but will keep up with a Porshe boxter all day. I can get 36mpg on a run at 70 mph, dropping to 25 mpg if I put my foot down on the twisty A roads. The noise of the twin pipes is music, a deep roar at 6,000 rpm. I can take four adults on a 300 mile round trip, although the boot could be bigger if you are going to be away for the weekend. If you are looking for a fast car, leave the Ford ST at the garage, forget the Subaru, test drive the 335I & you won't be disappointed

I'm very pleased with my car. It's noticeably cheaper to run than the petrol equivalent I had previously. It is very quick with instant pickup. Now its run in, the suspension which was very hard when first delivered has soften a little and is now very comfortable and responsive. Handling is very good. Reliability is 100%.

This is my seventh BMW so I could be said to be a fan. My current 335d has excellent performance though not quite as accelerative as my previous petrol one the trade off being lower running costs. When I first bought it (new) I was concerned about the very hard ride but it has improved over the nearly two years I have owned it. The handling is so well balanced it is a pleasure to drive on twisty roads but it will devour long distances (now) very comfortably on motorways or main roads. Everything works properly and I have had no reliability issues. Most of my driving is with one passenger so I don't really need anything larger. All in all I am very satisfied with an excellent car.

Yes, I knew the figures, but wasn't prepared for how fast this car is. After a short adjustment period, it is nice to find that though "hard core", the car can be driven more sedately with no fussing from the engine/ transmission etc. In fact it is quite at home at low speed and acceleration, making it friendly and practical for everyday use. MPG is not bad at all considering, but the ride IS harsh ( I am used to a 5 Series ride: I DONT have particularly low profile tyres, though they are the run-flats that BMW insist are right for the car) it is quite hard, especially at low speeds. Though the look of the car gives the impression of a sporty version of a family car, people will be surprised to learn, as I have, that this is a true sports car. After a few days of ownership on different surfaces, you realise that this baby is firmer than say a Mazda MX5. Pay back is of course, the fabulous engine and the car performance: steering is very sharp and satisfying through the chunky steering wheel, and the brakes are so efficient, they have to be learned for the initial period of ownership: they behave brilliantly but only need to be used with a light touch. I have the (sometimes notchy) manual gearbox, but I think the Steptronic BMW box would be my next choice. Ive experienced it before and it so clever, there aren't really any downsides to having one.. in fact.. tax band wise it is cheaper??!!...... The tax band on the 2007 manual is a stinging L, which currently means £460 for a six months disc. It's all voodoo to me, but I think the later 2007 models and on, as well as the autos are banded at K, which dramatically reduces tax. Though fuel costs won't be too bad, I am not sure where I am heading with Servicing. The car computer indicates service, which is no longer akin to a group of service items being due at intervals. Rather, the computer suggests more frequent service stops for more specific items. It's dubious to me that this approach will reduce servicing costs. Furthermore, if using non-BMW service, my question is how good is access to servicing info for 3rd party garages? BMW plugged my key into a read out unit, and told me what the car dash said, ok, but that implicit in those items, eg Oil change at £60k, were other items were due as well (eg spark plugs, filters) . My jury is out on this, but it does remind me of concerns that legislators had years ago that Manufacturers shouldn't be allowed to insist that only they were to carry out Warranty..?? Anyway, great,.. really great car. I will be of age to retire in a few years time, so will drive and enjoy it for a couple of years, until I am forced out of it, whether it be by biological age, green taxes, polar bears, govt policies or all of the forementioned! :-)

This is a fantastic car! The engine is super, the gearbox excellent and the brakes do a brilliant job. The convertible is a must, style, speed and a wow factor.
