I have driven this car for 12 years and done in excess of 105,000 miles. In that time I have only had to replace tyres, 2 exhausts and a radiator. I have been very happy with it as it has gone from being the good car to the runaround/dog car. It has been reliable, economical and I still enjoy it as a driving experience.

I've had the car two and a half years and I've been very pleased with it. It feels solid and sure footed to drive, with plenty of power for all sensible driving conditions. The base model - SE- is well appointed. I have two minor criticisms. One is that the design of the rear window can limit visibility sometimes (although the upside is it helps shield glare from car headlights at night. The other is that I prefer an analogue speedometer to the digital readout because under acceleration it is too easy to overshoot the desired speed (a problem I don't have with an analogue speedometer). Would I buy another one? Yes, provided I could still get the manual 1.8L petrol model. Would I go for a higher end version? Possibly if the price was right.

Honda Civic EX 2009 1.8 - excellent. My only issue is low mileage per gallon

It really is it just goes, its very economical and comfortable on journeys. An ideal vehicle for sensible drivers who dont want to race around but want comfort and economy. On long motorway journeys it does about 60 mpg, around town and country its just over 50 mpg. Insurance is pretty cheap as well and Honda dealer gives superb service. Also as James May pointed out on top Gear when he reviewed it, its he only car with rocket shaped door handles and triangular exhaust pipes. How cool are those

Absolutely brilliant. Paid £350 for it 6 months ago to use for business. Had new CV joint and front brakes. Passed MOT this week. Comfy, reliable and a fantastic workhorse. My first Honda but definately not my last.

Reasonably economical to run but at eith years old, althoug proving 100% reliable, service cost are becoming significantly high.

Being very old, the car has a few peculiarities, but it's reliable and comfortable.

The rides hard. The old civic was smoother.

Having bought this car nearly new it is now 10 years old. Comfort and interior is now showing its age but it is practical for my purposes. It has been entirely reliable and cost is reasonable for day to day running purposes. I have made a few long distance continental journeys in excess of 600 miles and have had no problems. Serviced regularly it has been a good investment.

In order to be able to transport a restless dog I had to part with my Mazda MX5 ! However, the Honda is reliable and easy to drive. I find the steering wheel very large, and the whole car heavy and high. The fuel costs seem high, but with its weight, that is to be expected. I find it comfortable. The driver's seat is easily adjusted, which is important to me as I have short legs. The visibility is good, with the usual care. I find parking and manoevering difficult as I am unused to front-wheel drive and cannot adjust to it as I had expected. All in all, however, there is little to fault it, except that I long for my MX5!

Bought the car from a Honda dealer when it was 6 months old, have covered 40,000 miles, the only expense apart from regular servicing, has been 4 new tyres, 1 light bulb, 2 pairs of windscreen wipers and a set of front brake pads. The car has passed the mot test first time for the last 6 years. Would certainly consider another Honda when the time comes to replace.

It has been a very reliable car, so far only the battery has failed. However, I have had lots of problems with noisey suspension at both the front and back of the car, which Honda do not seem to be able to resolve. This is a shame because apart from the noises I am very happy with the car. Lets hope they resolve this with the new models (mine is an 06 reg, one of the first new shape models to come out). The space inside the car is excellent especially with the magic rear seats which fold up completely and give a large area to carry large objects in the car without having to drop down the back of the seats to reveal the boot of the car. Corners like it's on rails!! I have 17 inch alloys, but if I had to buy another one I would go for the normal 16 inch, as I find the handling too light, it's hard work to drive on some of our terrible road surfaces we have at the moment light with the thinner tyres, they are also very expensive to buy and will remember that next time around!

We have been very pleased with our Civic. Petrol consumption is around 40mpg and motorway travelling at 70 is around 45mpg. Very comfortable, very positive steering, brakes and handling feels safe. The bodywork has kept very well and always looks smart and sporty. All our Honda cars have been very reliable and we have never experienced break downs etc.
