big economic fast smooth.

A well constructed car with a generally well designed and comfortable interior. The majority of controls are well placed but the cruise control lever can be confused with the combination indicator light/windscreen wiper lever, both being on the left side of the steering column. The windscreen wipers cannot be switched on/off without removing a hand from the steering wheel. The steering is precise and nicely weighted and the ride stable in all conditions. The wheel mounted paddles for manual gear changes move with the steering wheel and may not always be in an easy position to effect a gear change; it has little benefit over the automatic system as it will change of its own accord when certain rpm is reached. The heating/air conditioning system is effective with a quick warm up.

Enjoy driving the car. Overall really happy with it. A rear windscreen wiper would help visibility. The is not very big for the size of car.

This is the twelfth Mercedes I have owned and have found it to be as reliable, comfortable pleasurable to own and drive as every other Mercedes. I would not consider any other car as my main car as it provides everything I am looking for in a car.

I bought the 1600 rather tha the older 1800 model as it was promoted as haveing the Blue Efficiencu engine. It may have relatively low immisions however it does nor teurn brilliant economy at just around 30 mpg on normal driving cycle. However this can increase to aroun 43mpg on a motorway run at steady speed.

A bit heavy on fuel,but nice to drive,very solid and reliable.Its done 148000 miles,should do the same again.

Over all the car is comfortable and reliable. Performance is adequate for most road conditions however the car is prone to slipping on very icy roads and compacted snow due to the type of tyre used. I always have the manufacturers recommended tyres fitted regardless.

Excellent reliable car which has done nearly 150,000 miles with very little trouble. It is fast, not terribly economical but comfortable and smooth. The load space is large and has been extremely useful for transporting washing machines, gas cookers etc. The car is fun to drive. When we test drove it, we were planning on buying something else (ok, Audi A6 estate) but the Mercedes was instantly involving and fun to drive and we changed our minds there and then. It is now very long in the tooth and will need replacing fairly soon but I will be sorry to part with it.

Everything you would expect from a Merc. Comfortable and with more power than you need in London. Starts on the button, lovely light steering when moving slowly. Very practical and plenty of toys and whistles

I like my car

I bought my car last october to replace my ford mondeo hatchback. Although my car is packed with all manner of electrical gadgets there really is no need for most of them at all.

The car has plenty of space is comfortable/powerful/ economic Still looks modern even though a 2001 model. I regularly achieve over 38mpg on long runs on the motorway and 30mpg around town with carefully driving. I do not use Mercedes to maintain I use Halfords auto centres and have had no issues over the last 5yrs

Good comfortable car to drive. Feels well - engineered and has been reliable. Performance and economy is good in all conditions and carrying capacity is good. Servicing is expensive largely because of the need to use Mercedes - accredited workshops. This may well contribute to the reliability (so far!). That said, as with most modern vehicles, there is very little maintenance that can be done "at home". I will certainly consider purchasing another Mercedes when it becomes necessary to change the car.

I selecred this car for reliability , comfort, and the ability to carry two bicycles by the simple expedient of lowering the back seats. Super carrying capacity.

Very comfortable for my family needs but rear seat a bit narrow for adults
