Spacious and safe for kids/passengers but unreliable and not very economical. It will be replaced when it has worn out.

Had a standard Espace, which was written off after a rear end shunt. Found this Grand Espace and having a wife, 4 children and a dog at the time it was ideal with a lot more room than the other one. It has also been used for other "jobs" by taking out all the rear seats, it has installed and bought home 2 children to university, along with moving all sorts of furniture etc. It is very practical and is very comfortable to drive and I am very reluctant to change it now that 3 children have left home and the dog has died. It can be thirsty with diesel if driven hard but as I am now training to take the I.A.M. advanced driver test and have now learnt to have a "feather" right foot, the fuel consumption has greatly improved from 25-26 m.p.g. to 33-35 m.p.g.

Very good car but tax is crippling at £475. I use it only when our second car cannot do i.e. to take the dogs anywhere and to go on holidays or pull the caravan or the trailer.

Hard working, solid car. Expensive to repair but has served me and my family well over the last 150,000 miles

Excellent in all aspects except for miles per gallon and road tax.

This is my third Espace I have recently purchased After having other cars over the years I am now sold on the Espace It is like having a van as well remove 5 seats and you can get an 8 by4 sheet of plasterboard on the back Some people don't like them ( Top Gear ) but it's a model you must get to know and you don't get that by crashing it on a TV show We took our 2nd Espace right across Europe in 2004 for 6 weeks without a hitch . I won't change from the Espace so I want my 11 plate to last me till I pop my clogs which I hope is a long way off I am. 62

Excellent concept and design, marred slightly by occasional minor unreliability. Systems seem unnecessarily complicated. This is my third, having started with an original Matra ... Deeply disappointed that Renault have decided to discontinue right hand drive Espace models. One or two holidays in France p.a., does not warrant buying a LHD though.
