Engine is a marvel! Excellent performance and economy of over 50MPG possible (mid 40s is the norm) Build quality very good Handling is very competent, but ride is a bit on the firm side with some associated road noise, but a small price to pay.

Fantastic car, great on running costs, mpg is fab around town but especially on motorways. Very comfy, looks amazing, we can get the whole family in and our dog. The boot is huge, loads of leg room front and back. Awesome car

It has the essentials but is very basic; modest power and no frills. Manual windows and key locked doors. But it is reliable, didn't cost me much when I bought it a couple of years ago and is much more economical than my last car which had the same size motor but used petrol and not diesel as this one does

To date the the car has lived up to my expectations based upon the literature I read and the reviews I both read and viewed prior to buying the car. Two exceptions - the poor wear quality of the seating. To date the drivers front seat has already been renewed under warranty - (Registered March 2012). However the replacement seat is already starting to deteriorate and the passenger seat is also beginning to show wear. Also the car performed extremely poorly in snow condition to the point where this year I have bought winter tyres in the hope that this measure will improve the drive of the car in adverse conditions.

My Octavia, is comfortable, roomy, economical and cruises fast enough for me. An all round good car!

Much improved over previous model (which was very good in any case): better petrol consumption, smoother ride, very comfortable. Excellent car and very well recommended.

The best car I've ever had! Will defiantly be getting another one after the demise of this one (which will hopefully be a long time away as it has been so good). Powerful yet surprisingly economical to run, with lots of room inside the car and especially the boot.

Had this car for six years and it has been a great car to drive. Average between 55-60mpg which I am very pleased with. For the family it has lots of space in the boot. However, space between back seats and front could be better especially with child/baby seat as it can impede on seats. Due to angle of glove box it can be uncomfortable for passenger. Although car is now 11 years old engine still runs a dream and effient to run. Would certainly purchase a Skoda car again in the future. Well made and well worth the money.

I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE 9 YEARS, OVER 160,000 MILES THE RELIABILITY, QUALITY AND ECONOMY HAS BEEN BRILLIANT, ALTHOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW ISSUES, ELECTRICAL MOSTLY, THEY OCCUR YEARS APART AND HAVING VW PARTS HAS MADE REPAIRS AND SPARES EASY ENOUGH TO SORT. MY 110 BHP ENGINE IS ECONOMICAL WITH GOOD TORQUE AND NO NEED TO REV TOO MUCH TO MOVE ALONG SWIFTLY WITH 40-50 MPG. MAIN ISSUE WOULD BE ITS A LITTLE CRAMPED IN THE REAR FOR PASSENGERS AND SUSPENSION ISNT AS SUPPLE AS IT COUD BE, A LITTLE SOFT!

I find that the Skoda Dealerships are a real rip off for servicing and maintenance. Their mechanics are poorly trained, poorly supervised and the entire emphasis is on squeezing as much money out of the customer and the company (Warranty Work expanded). The really turn you off buying another Skoda.

First class ride, dependable, comfy and 50 plus miles per gallon on the open riad even when pulling my trailer and fully loaded with camping gear.

Lovely car - I used to travel regularly from west coast Scotland to East Anglia and this was the car for the job ! Did it easily in 6 - 7 hours depending on roadworks , Now journeys are not so long but very economical and lovely to drive .

A first rate car ,drives well with ample power & space Would suggest you go for top of the range,as smaller engines a little underpowered.

This is a proven vehicle with excellent levels of economy and reliability. You get VW/Audi quality at around 85-90% of Audi/VW price. My current model (VRS) is fine but not as good as the previous standard format Elegance. The ride is hard and the low profile sports wheels do not mix well with our poorly maintained roads. I will revert to a standard format for my next Skoda. Having said that the car has all the power you would need and with sensible driving in urban/extra urban conditions can easiy obtain around 48mpg in summer and 45 mpg in winter. It is a spacious carrier for a small/medium car (its based on a Golf frame)and is reasonably cheap to service.

I bought my current car as a result of the government scrappage scheme. I would normally have gone for a VW or Toyota but the Skoda offered similar quality at a much less price. It has not disappointed me. I always cherish my cars and it replaced a VW Jetta that was 20 years old and in excellent condition , It hurt to part with it. My Skoda gives excellent economy is good to drive and looks good to. I would recommend it to anyone.

This an excellent car that functions perfectly even after 8 years and 85000 miles. Being the L & K version it has every extra you could wish, air con, auto transmission with normal and sports transmission, automatic lights and wipers, heated wing mirrors, dipping rear mirror, etc. It still does over 45 mpg solo and 30 towing a caravan. It has towed a caravan all over Europe and I have yet to find a 'normal' road that has affected speed. The leather seats are still supple and show no wear. Access through all doors is very good and there is ample room in the boot for a golf clubs and trolley with the rear seat up and good, secure storage under the boot floor. The RF licence is £175 and I currently pay £185 for fully comp. insurance. This has proved itself to be an consistently excellent car and I would seriously consider a replacement Octavia when the time comes.

The car I bought new in Oct 2012 was the "previous" model and thus quite cheap. It has been excellent in all areas although we would prefer a more "upright" car. The performance is good and the economy excellent, 52mpg overall at 15,000 miles. I keep a check on all diesel put in and the mileage etc. on a spreadsheet. The only problem has been a blown light bulb and a "funny" patch on the back rest of the driver's seat yet to be discussed with the local dealer. The only negative comments are that the ride can be slightly unsettled and the road noise can be rather intrusive.
