Had the Octavia VRS for 2 years now , after 6 years with an Audi A4 2.8 Quattro , this is as quick , better assembled in my opinion , and cheaper to run , although lacking some refinments the Audi enjoys , but , price wise , a bargain

I bought my Octavia 4x4 estate as I wanted a car to pull a horse trailer and horse on damp fields and did not want a large 4x4. It does the job very well for what I want and looks like an ordinary car. Very pleased with it.

Apart from a few squeaks I am extremely pleased with the vehicle

10 years old, 160k on the clock, still getting circa 70mpg out of it on normal runs including country roads. Pass MOT again with very nominal (less than £100) repairs required.

Very practical and economic car to run. Reliable and easy to drive. Ideal for my needs.

The Octavia Estate is a comfortable drive with plenty of load space. The VRS version has enough performance to make it quick to drive without looking like a boy racer.

Owned for over 8 years after being purchased second hand from a Skoda dealer with 8000 miles on the clock the car has now done 44000 miles with nothing more than standard servicing and a couple of batteries. The car is not garaged or particularly 'pampered' and yet there is no rust. If there is a down side it is the prejudiced comments from friends and family who do not fully appreciate the common sense of owning a Skoda.

Living in a remote place reached by steep drive the 4 wheel drive is essential The Estate is roomy enough to take my 2 large Deerhounds in comfort with the back seats folded down. Fuel consumption could be better but overall I am satisfied with the car. Rear view visibility could be better

SatNavs were around in 2005, yet Skoda decided to place the cigar lighter socket in the centre console, behind the gear lever. If you have a SatNav mounted at the bottom of the windscreen, which is usual, and need it to be on charge, which is common, the charging cable has to run across the side of the gear lever. Very stupid. Also, mobile 'phones have been around for decades and hands-free kits (portable or installed) for nearly as long, yet most car manufacturers omit to design into their interior layouts a generic 'phone cradle, so we're left trying to rest it in the ashtray or in a door pocket or some other less than ideal place. Come on, car manufacturers, especially Skoda who have become so good at so much - drag your designers into the 21st Century or sack them and get some with up to date ideas!

This car is cheaper to run than my previous, smaller car; it's comfortable to drive and for passengers; the boot is huge and the tech is useful without being fussy. Adults and kids like the car, even the dog does.

Practical and comfortable, it is like a pair of comfortable slippers that can turn in to a pair of low end training shoes if you want a blast on an entertaining road. I have done a few 500 mile trips with ease and comfort. Although petrol engined economy is okay and the 500 mile trips were done on one tank. Urban, as can be expected, is nowhere near as good. One trip was done in the terrible January 2013 snow with a detour through the Perthshire lanes. Even though all weather tyres were fitted to the front only the car did amazingly well. The traction control is excellent. High end 4x4s with road tyres were going nowhere! I'm old fasioned so don't need many toys - it has a decent radio/CD, aircon, electic mirrors. I will likely buy another Skoda when I need to replace this one.

Seat not especially comfortable although can be adjusted several ways. Don't like the lip on the back as makes difficult sometimes to get bigger items in. Not that much for back seat passengers esp. as i am reasonably tall so have driver seat further out. But it is very economical mileage wise and I have had no mechanical problems with it so far.

It's are straightforward, practical comfortable and economic car. What is not to like? If I wanted performance and fashion I would not have bought it.
