The4x4 turbo estate is a marvellous car. I rate it as highly as the Audi Coupe quattro which I purchased in 1985

Probably the most reliable car I have had.

I don't mind in the least being teased about driving a Skoda ('Sorry, I just couldn't bear to be seen driving a Skoda'). It's their loss! I get around 60 mpg, road tax is just £40 a year, thanks to Skoda's low emissions. My criteria for choosing a car are: reliability, economy and safety. The Skoda Octavia scores highly for me on each of those.

this is the 5th octavia i have had and so far very happy with all aspects. It is larger, quieter, more powerful and farmore fuel efficient than the last one, It also has lower emissions and is free of road tax. Can it get any better!!

We've had this car for four years now and it has been fantastic, everything that you would want in a car. When we eventually have to replace it, I have no doubt that it will be with another skoda.

We have always enjoyed our car. We have driven to Hungary and back twice in it and it has been reliable and economic.

The second I have owned, both from nearly new. For the price in all aspects very good cars and I would probably buy a third. However bitterly disappointed by the MPG of the automatic. It is consistently 10 MPG less than the manual. In addition to this there is a significant "take up" pause before engaging which is potentially worrying at roundabouts and junctions Never again

This is my second 2.0 TDI Octavia. I get an average of 51 with mixed local driving and with a long drive on motorway this can rise to 70 or above. Car has enough power for mid range overtaking. The car is practical with a massive boot and good seats and equipment. Very satisfied with this and have purchased a pre-registered 1.6 TDI Octavia SE for my wife. My last 2.0 TDI has gone to my daughter. Exceptionally satisfied with the car, manufacturer and dealer

I bought a Skoda Octavia after driving Vauxhall Vectra and Ford Mondeo company cars for many years before retiring. I am quite happy with the Octavia which I find more efficient and more practical than the Vectra, with a definitely better ride. It is also definitely more economical on fuel. The Octavia has many small but useful features, and a wealth of internal storage space. I cannot fault its performance on the road either. I would cheerfully stick with this maker.

one of the most comfortable and easy to drive cars on the road, fuel consumption is excellent aprox' 25mpg around town and 40+ on the motorway, steering wheel adjusts for reach and rake drivers seat can be lowered or taken higher, most dashboard controls are within easy reach and are intuitively placed. Acceleration is smooth and torque is ample for most drivers. There is plenty of space within the cabin to store nic-nacks but the only way to describe the boot is HUGE it is more than ample for virtually anyone and is bigger than some estate cars I can think of. Steering is light but communicative and is direct without the vagueness that besets some more modern cars, gear change's is slick and accurate and the brakes are excellent with plenty of bite but without throwing you into the windscreen. The air-con' is a' must have' and is very efficient, but this brings me to my main complaint, the sighting of the heater/air-con controls is ridiculous, the driver has to take his/her eyes off the road in order to make any adjustments that are required, to site it at the bottom of the centre console where it is least visible is dangerous and impracticable, now my second complaint, visibility from the car is great until you get to rear visibility, this is atrocious and parking censores are an absolute must. Other than my two main complaints the car offers generous family room, a cavernous boot, plenty of safety kit, good economy and a comfortable ride. I have driven many cars over the last 40 yrs but the Octavia ranks right up there with the best of them, I just wish I had not let 'badge premium' stop me buying one earlier.

I'm generally pleased with the car - it fulfils my needs at the moment. However I will not replace it with another because of an issue with the quality of the materials used in the seating. Whilst Skoda have replaced the driver's front seat due to excessive wear the problem has reappeared in the replacement and is now beginning to show in the passenger seat. In my view this can only be due to second rate materials. However in my view the car scores well in all other respects.

Really happy with car's economy, averaging 58mpg. Engine can feel underpowered at times but it is quite a big car for a 1.6l engine. Build quality is very good. Seats are comfortable but the car does get a little bouncy on some roads, which has made passengers feel car sick. This may be due to it being an estate because it is better when the boot is loaded or with a full tank of fuel. Generally very pleased and would buy another one.

Exceptionally comfortable and well equipped. Good performance, road-holding and brakes. Only let down by occasional engine management faults.

As a diesel did not expect startling performance, but I do not require exceptional performance. A very practical car. Ideal for local trips at one end of the scale up to a great motorway cruiser at the other end of the scale. When it come to be replced I will look very closly at the equivelent on the dealers forecourt

This is my second Skoda - the first being a Fabia 1.4 Comfort. I have had the Octavia Elegance for 9 months, & it is a lovely car to drive - very comfortable, good leg & head room, lots of gadgets (my favourites being the puddle-lights & the little plastic clip on the inside of the windscreen to hold your car park ticket - no more sticky bits on the window!), very responsive, just great really!

Have been pleased with the car which I bought second-hand in 2008 as it has lots of "extras" like cruise control , parking sensors etc - being an Elegance model. Fuel consumption has averaged 48 mpg over the five years (and when towing a 14ft Sprite caravan it does 30 mpg.) Engine power (105 BHP) is more than adequate and the 5-speed gearbox is the best I have used in over 50 years motoring. The boot is huge and swallows up pushchairs, lawnmowers, suitcases etc with room to spare and passenger space is quite generous too. Seats are very comfortable with good range of adjustments to suit everyone. Controls and instruments are well laid out and there is a feeling of quality about the car. As for Skoda's legendary reliability - I have been a bit disappointed as I had to replace a faulty alternator last year six months after fitting new battery and the electronic door-lock on rear door failed last year too. Brakes are about average - replaced front discs and pads at 42,00 miles, rear calipers (seized) at 45,00 miles and now ABS warning is showing faulty speed sensor at 50,000 miles. Other minor gripes include problems with rear screen washer choking , failing aircon and uneven distribution of light from headlamps when dipped beam is adjusted downwards to compensate for nose-up attitude caused by carrying heavy stuff in the boot. But to sum up - I will have Skoda at the top of the list when I come to replace the car in a few year's time.
