With a fuel consumption of nearly 100mpg over 30,000 miles it is cheep to run (especially when it is sunny and 2/3 of the electricity comes off my roof). It has a range of around 40 miles electric only (best achieved is 48.8 miles) and the petrol engine to generate electricity to keep me going on a long run. I rate it as still the best petrol - electric car on the market - it is a shame Vauxhall don't bring the new one in from US - it is even better.

The perfect compromise between electric and petrol - local journeys all-electric, but a three hundred mile range when the petrol engine kicks in. Very high level of equipment with reversing cameras, park assist, satnav, cruise and climate control. Now that the Ampera has been discontinued, there are some absolute bargains around, with low mileage two or three year old cars available at around a third of the original list price. I love it!
