Our Volvo is still going strong - we tow regularly with no issue and in continued comfort. Just a shame they discontinued this model for the v90

Simply the best most durable luxury estate you could buy had mine 11 years average 44 mpg now on 260 k  Like others have said goes like a hot hatch as fast as you could possibly need copper brake pipes from new no rust quality of build beyond any new car you could buy . Proper load space have even slept in the back over 6 ft tall . Fantastic stereo with the addition of a blue tooth adapter . Parts are now cheap for them . Most people dismiss them more fool them . Downsides poor image in the eyes of some , steering is horrible but you do get used to it . Very poor steering lock that’s it ! Now we are throwing them away as apparently good for the planet . 9

My volvo is 2004 bought five years ago with 130000 on clock. I have covered 178000 miles now and I can only describe the car as superb in every respect apart from the terrible turning circle. I am a police class one advance driver also with a class 1 HGV licence. But as a woman and sometimes in a very tight parking space I do get remarks about women drivers which makes me laugh. I pray she goes on giving me quite a few more years. I really wouldn't like to swop her

I have owned my volvo v70 for 11 years and it's covered 244k miles.. I went for the simple Ford 2.0 D engine which is adequate.... not exciting. I replaced the clutch at 163k and the cambelt at 168k, a front wheel bearing failed at 220k and one of the expensive rear suspension units failed at 230k. It still does 50 mpg at 70 mph and the aircon still works. I have had it serviced religiously every 12k and run it on supermarket fuel plus cleaner. I am going to keep going until it dies. Just remembered the alternator was changed under warranty at 50k and the battery failed at 110k. Wierd that it still keeps going. Would buy another.

This is my third Volvo estate and just about to purchase my fourth. Only ever had one slight reliability problem with an XC70 which was quite minor. Plenty of room for passengers and luggage, good economy and handling . Have owned VW , Renault, Ford and Mercedes but think the build quality of Volvo exceeds the others.

This car is lovely to drive, smooth and quiet I recently drove from Suffolk to Scotland, around and back to Suffolk and averaged 58.7 mpg (full tank to full tank not guessed or using trip computer). The only dislikes I have are the appalling turning circle,(my old Volvo 940 turning circle was 2m smaller) and the placement of the steering wheel switches (cruise control and radio etc.). To operate these switches you need to bend your wrists uncomfortably or take your hand off the wheel. I drive a Volvo truck for work and the steering wheel switches are excellent so why are they so poor in cars? Perhaps newer models are improved. If or when I replace this car I will probably buy another newer one of the same model.

As you may see by the age of my Volvo I have had no breakdowns or any trouble what so ever from it. Still very comfortable and reliable and with the original battery, I have no intention of replacing it. If all cars were as good as my Volvo the world would be a better place. If I should need to replace this car I would certainly buy another Volvo.

I've had five different types of big Volvo's over the past 20 years, and can't fault any of them from the 740, 850, S80 and now V70. I chose the first one on recommendation and have never looked back. Most of them have been Estates because I've wanted the space for babies, children, grandparents and subsequently business use. The running costs aren't cheap, but I don't mind paying for it, as I really never have to have anything done to them, apart from yearly service and tyres. My only complaint is about the light bulbs which do need to be replaced on a regular basis and there are so many of them. I've travelled all over the continent and the UK from top to bottom in my Volvo's and have had all of them on average 6 or 7 years. I'm reluctant to replace my present one as I've had it so long, and it's still only got 55,000 on the clock as I have now retired and don't travel as far as I did when I used it for work. It's in perfect condition, bodywork, engine, wheels, the lot and I don't think the new ones are made as well as the old ones. Can't bear the day when i would have to be without one. My son in law always buys my old Volvo's, and is waiting patiently now for me to sell this one.

I made a mistake buying it, but after spending quite a lot on repairs, it is now reasonably economical The questionnaire asked if it is a hybrid which it clearly is as it used both petrol and lpg, but that is not what the unqualified term hybrid is often taken to mean. It would be interesting to know which of these types of hybrid is the more common.

An excellent reliable general purpose vehicle.

Excellent reliable and comfortable load lugger. The only downside is it is a little noisy at motorway speeds, depending on the road surface, and the 2.4l engine is rather under-powered for the size of car.

Excellent cars first class for the job they do , comfortable and very reliable , in my opinion best estates on the road .

I had owned 4 secondhand Volvo estates of various models over the last 25 years and have enjoyed each one. I love my present model although it is now rather dated. Running costs are rather high but performance, reliability, comfort, space and, above all, SAFETY are all excellent. Would recommend a Volvo to anyone who requires all that I do. You can't go wrong in my opinion.

An excellent car for towing very stable and responsive as long as it is weight matched with the caravan.

Generally a solid, useful and comfortable car. I prefer the 2.4 D5 engine I had in my last Volvo to the 2 litre in the this D3 as it had a lot more torque. Fuel economy though is very good. The heated seats are great in winter. I don't like the electric handbrake and it's position. I would like a heated windscreen fitted as standard as the one in I had in my Mondeo was excellent in winter. The ride on the 18" wheels is good even though quite firm and the handling and grip is good even on wet roads. It is good car to use on long trips as it is quiet inside, has cruise control and will hold a lot of stuff with the seats down.

Having owned a 740, then an 850, followed by an early V70 and now this V70 I can say this is the best one yet. It was bought secondhand and the number of fitted extras made it a good buy in my opinion. It has given very little trouble but genuine service parts can be expensive. It averages around 42 mpg on a mix of town and distance driving, on a long run on the motorway I have reached 60 mpg on the dash readout. The big fault with this model is the turning circle, which compared to the previous models is dismal, can be embarrassing having to do several shunts sometimes to park it.

Don't actually collect our car for another six days,so cannot review reliability section. So pleased with the vehicle as it has extra features, very few nice ones come along and we believe that this is one of them, a true credit to the previous owner. Thank you Dinnages Volvo for a smooth transaction, and thank you Fraser for your support and advice.
