Pick up a hire car when there's no car
With AA comprehensive car insurance you get a courtesy car as standard while yours is being repaired after an accident.
If it's written off or not recovered following theft, a hire vehicle is available through Car Hire additional cover. Here's what you get:
- Hire vehicle provided by a national car hire network.
- The vehicle will be similar in size to your own car, up to a 2.0 litre engine.
- Continuous use of the car for up to 21 days (up to 14 days with Silver third party, fire and theft cover).
- No limit on claims.
Car Hire is already included with Platinum car insurance. You can add it to Silver and Gold car insurance when you get a quote, and any time during the policy year.
Additional drivers named on your car insurance policy will also be insured to drive the hire car if they have a full UK driving licence, and are between 18 and 99 when the policy starts (between 23 and 99 in Northern Ireland and Isle of Man).
If you claim for a hire car, you'll need to pay a refundable fuel or security deposit using a credit or debit card in your name.
