Excess Protection

Recover your excess if you make a claim

Enhance your car insurance with additional cover

Your benefits with Excess Protection cover

You can claim back your excess on one insurance claim during the 12 months of your car insurance policy.

You'll be covered in a claim for:
  • Accidental damage
  • Malicious damage
  • Theft or attempted theft
  • Fire

And it covers your total policy excess – voluntary and compulsory excesses combined.

    • You can claim back your excess on a claim where you're at fault or the other party involved can't be identified.
    • Peace of mind – you won't be left out-of-pocket if your car's damaged by an unidentified driver.

What claims are not covered

  • Where the total cost of the claim is less than the excess payable on the car insurance policy.
  • Where you haven't been left out of pocket. For instance, if you were able to recover your policy excess through another insurance policy, such as Motor Legal Assistance cover.
  • Incidents that happen before the start of your policy.
  • Policy excesses related to: glass (windscreen, sunroof and windows); personal effects; accessories; or audio and visual equipment such as car phones, satnav, CD players and radios.
