Beautiful touring and long distance car although not so good at driving in traffic. Fuel consumption is a little lower than I expected although I don't drive as many miles as I thought I would. Surprisingly difficult to get a comfortable driving position - even with a lot of possible adjustments. Surprisingly little storage space in the driving area of the car and also in the rear - especially as I have run flat tyres so don't have a spare wheel.

My previoius car was a 330d and although my new car is great, I prefer 6 cylinders and 3-Litres,because of the extra power, the new car being 184 h.p. and the previous one being 204 h.p. What a difference 20 h.p.makes even in a 10-year-old car. However, the 320d in Sport Mode almost makes it as good as a 3-litre version. I now have M-Sport seats which are not wide enough but there is nothing I can do about it, even although the handbook says that seat back width can be altered in some models. I have everything else in the car, so why not width-adjustment in the U.K. specification ?

Only just bought the car (from new) which makes it almost the last car of BMW 3 Series coupe before it became the 4 Series. So far, I have found it a very comfortable car, which is very good in Traffic and the Motorway. It is very easy to exceed the speed limit without realising it because it is so solid on the road. It has a large boot area, expandable by folding the back seats down. It is very well finished in the cabin. Criticisms. Although this is a 4 seater, it is only 2 Door so access in and out of the rear 2 seats is not easy, especially for an older person. There is no space for BMW Manual for the car, as the Glove Box is too small. In addition the doors are so big that the parking of the car in a multi storey car park requires either a deep breath or a parking spot away from other cars. The only other point is that the road noise from the car tyres is quite loud at speed , to the extent that the volume on the radio needs to be turned up. Otherwise. Brilliant!!

Car bought when x3 years old from private seller. It is the SE model and had done 30,000 miles when purchased. It has been 100% reliable requiring only oil changes, replacement of tires and the odd light bulb. Pluses are excellent driving characteristics, precise steering, generally comfortable ride and practicality of estate body. Ample power for overtaking. The controls are straight forward, beautifully laid out and pleasingly easy to use - this is a car that is easy to drive at night or in bad conditions because every thing falls naturally to hand. Minuses are very poor traction in adverse conditions such as mud, snow and ice. Run flat tires degrade ride quality especially at low speed and are noisy on UK roads. The lack of a spare wheel is irritating. Fuel consumption is generally good on long trips but increases very rapidly in town. For example the original owner, who lived on Sussex coast achieved average of 46.00 mpg during his period of ownership while I, living in London have only managed 37.9mpg. Styling limits carrying capacity and is less elegant, inside and out, than the comparable Audi models. In summary a very well designed and executed car that offers class leading engineering, fuel efficiency and is fun to drive.

BMW 320 diesel is a comfortable, economical car. Returns >50 mpg, has enough power for normal driving, still very reliable after 100 000 miles.

Surprisingly economical for fairly powerful car - reliable, always starts, pretty quick, good value when bought 2nd hand for market value price.

I have been happy with my car,s reliability as I have used for the past 10 years.

To most intents and purposes I am very happy with the car. Like most cars there are things that could be improved, Firstly it sounds a little like a tractor on tick over, secondly the "stop start" function is a little "clunky" not as well engineered as the system on the Audi I had previously. My biggest gripe however is that there is no Spare Wheel and no option for one. Relying on the run flats is not in my mind a viable option. Useless if you get a blow out and pretty useless if you get a flat in the middle of the night in the country with no where to go to get it exchanged. I got a flat on the way to the airport with no time to get it changed before my flight and came back after a weeks holiday knowing that I had to get the tyre changed before I could travel home. This alone would stop me buying BMW again. Why they cant offer a space saver as an option I dont know.

very reliable car...

On the plus side the car is comfortable and I like the shape/style against this is the fact that it is noisy, it sounds like a taxi, sluggish at pulling away. A number of things are now going wrong, A/C condenser leaking (£500) air bag sensor always on (£750)these items should not go wrong on an 8yr old BMW

Lovely car ,but I miss the space of my previous car a Mercedes estate.

Quality and reliability are excellent. The ride is a little on the firm side but handling and road holding are really good. The run flat tyres are a nightmare and very expensive to replace. The cabin is cramped, there is little storage space and the pedals are too close together. The clutch is at an awkward angle. Good on fuel, but it cost over £600 to replace discs and pads at 35000 miles.Main dealers are a little sniffy. This is a company car, I would have another BMW but it would need to be bigger inside...

The car is solid, reliable, comfortable although a little low to get into, well equipped with BMW extras and is easy to drive quickly. No problems with getting through MOT and servicing costs reasonable using an independent garage. The downside is poor mpg around town / stop start motoring and high tax rating. Leg room in back not brilliant.

Very hard ride, heavy steering. No where near as good as my previous car a Mercedes C250

The 3 Series BMW Tourer is practical in terms of use and looks stylish. It drives well and eats up the miles on the motorway. Useful for carrying luggage and dogs! I get good miles per gallon and the road tax for a 2 litre car is very reasonable. Doesnt need much maintenance or servicing but when something is needed it can be costly. Has proved itself very reliable over a 4 year period. Bit of a tight squeeze if you carry 5 adult passengers. A good car which I am happy with.

Very economical ( they say 68.9 mpg ) and only £20 road tax. Good excelleration and quite comfortable but run flat tyres are a little noisy.

One breakdown when fairly new entailed replacing the ECU which was done under warranty. This was handled efficiently by the dealer. Since then the only expenditure has been on consumables, i.e. tyres, brakes, oil etc. A lack of boot space is sometimes an irritant but otherwise the car is solid and reliable with decent performance and still delivers 50mpg on a motorway journey.

I bought this car when it was six months old in December 2012. To date it has proved to be extremely well built with no concerns at all. The car has been used to tow our large caravan over three thousand miles this summer. The car is comfortable and easy to drive smoothly. It holds the road well and has excellent visibility. The performance is strong especially in the low to middle range. This makes it great for towing. It also accelerates strongly past five thousand revs with ease. The fuel economy for such a powerful car is fantastic, it always averages around 60 mpg on a solo run. Towing 1350Kg it usually averages around 40mpg. This is our first saloon car and it is much quieter than the hatchbacks we have owned. However split folding rear seats are a cost option and unfortunately our car was not specified with them. BMW offer a five year service plan and this is a very useful choice if you intend keeping the car. In conclusion the BMW 320d saloon is an excellent car that with the above two options would be hard to beat for the money especially if it was bought at a few moths old.

My 320i is an excellent car from every angle but it is not cheap to run. Performance and range of features make it very pleasing to drive. The luxury of leather seats and the feel of solid build gratify. And after a wash, the paintwork, fo a 12 year old car is excellent. I still smile as I return to the car park to see my Beemer!
