My Car does what I want it to do, comfortable easy to drive and pulls my caravan all around the country.

I recently changed from a petrol to a diesel Mondeo (6 forward) but find that there is more gear changing required in urban and suburban driving compared to the petrol model (5 forward gears). The green light on the dashboard is useful in driving in the optimum gear for economy/efficiency although engine tone and feel also indicate need to change. I seem to be driving in lower gears in town due to increased traffic, congestion, traffic calmimg and potholes. I live about 120 miles from the nearsest motorway and feel that a diesel engine would be more efficient in optimum conditions of c 50 mph with little requirement for braking or gear changing, however, the petrol model is better for urban driving where you can drive comfortably in gear 4 using gear 5 for dual carriageways and motorways. I have kept a fuel log and am not convinced that, overall diesel is cheaper than petrol in terms of mpg, road tax and additional car cost. I driven rental cars in the USA recently, I think that my next UK car will be a model with automatic transmission 11 October 2013

I bought this car secondhand almost a year ago. It is economical on a good run but drinks fuel on short local trips. It is reasonably quiet, a comfortable ride and the traction control system is excellent. There are a few minor faults but that's to be expected on a car of this age. A small water leak and a non working passenger window - these will be fixed by the garage in due course. Reliability is very good, it always starts first time. Down side is the odd door locking and double locking mechanism. Sometimes the doors lock when driving along. Acceleration and handling are very good.

Good handling car Not a rocket ship but nice and smooth and average 30 mpg with spirited driving !! Plenty room for camping trips ;-)

I bought this car 4 years ago from Ford Direct, as a spacious, well equippped and comfortable family car. It has been very reliable and has performed all of my expected tasks exactly or better thjan I had expected. I would thoroughly recommend the vehicle.

A very practical reliable car. I do not think the driving experience is as god as the hatch/saloon. Notisable poor fuel consumption on short stop/start journees, but good on distance. It woud benefit from moor luggage tie points to secure loads.

Apart from a couple of drive belts going, the old girl have managed 138k without a hiccup. Spacious and comfortable. Economical if you drive sensibly, but have plenty of poke to get you out of trouble. When she finally dies, I will get another!

146k miles in and running as well as when we acquired it 10yrs ago. A few rattles & squeaks, a dodgy radio and plenty of bumps in the bodywork but still a pleasure to drive on a daily basis, and for umpteen 350 mile trips to Cornwall every year.

Loads of boot room. 1.6 engine copes well with large body. average mpg 49.1

Superb family car, loads of space for passengers, better boot space than competition (e.g. Passat and Insignia). Smooth, comfortable and reliable. Well-equipped, although could do with a 6th gear for cruising, like in the diesel.

A very comfortable car (friends and relatives who are driven in it say this without being prompted!). It takes a huge amount of stuff in the boot and we always feel safe in it. It would be easier to get stuff in the boot if we had bought a hatchback, but we got our car in part exchange when it was one year old and liked the look of it at the dealers!

Excellent car for space and handling - as petrol MPG not bad as in low to mid 30's mpg. Needs good maintainence otherwise starts to run rough/use oil... Parts prices high from Ford dealer but aftermarket ones readily avaialable but very variable on quality. Good second hand parts avaialblity and reasonaly easy for basic DIY servicing and repairs.

My Mondeo is a large car, sometimes tricky in car parks and on small roads. However it eats up the miles on long journeys and driver and passengers travel in comfort. The load space is huge - it's a simple task to load the double bass - and fuel economy is excellent for the size of car and performance (45mpg over mixed conditions, better on longer journeys) See no need to change models.

Easy to drive, cheaper to get parts for. The titanium model has extras like cd player, air con, 4 electric windows, alloys and parking sensors.

In the 11 years I've owned this car its always started and got me to where I wished to go

A good cabin with most of the optional extras associated with the Titanium X model. The driver's seat is not as comfortable as the Ghia X I used to have as there are not as many adjustments possible, but still relatively OK. I have driven to Switzerland via Germany and back via France and found that I was very relaxed throughout the journey. I drive around 500-1000 miles a week and generally feel OK by the time I get home. The cruise control, auto-lights, auto-wipers, excellent sound system all help, but the climate control is the best in the business for keeping the cabin air fresh and the windows clear. On the negative side, the spare wheel is full size and this takes up a lot of boot space, consequently the boot capacity is a little less than the older model. In fact, so much so that I now hire a roof box for holidays (mainly due to the kids? stuff). I would consider going for a smaller spare wheel and regain the boot space if you normally carry more than 2 large suitcases when you go on holiday. Would I buy another when it's time to renew?
