This is my second Honda Accord. I was pleased with the first one and I'm generally pleased with this one as well. The only issue I have with the car is the SatNav system. Despite having the latest version loaded by my dealer when I bought the car about 9 months ago there's no way it's as comprehensive or as accurate as the TomTom one I had on the previous Accord.

My Accord has see two babies become adults. It can take Ikea flat pack or Uni clobber. Drives with a sport option or cruise control and prefers long distance driving as one tank will get me from London to Plymouth. It has been regularly serviced and its 19 year life got through one radiator, one set of disks and an engine (the cam belt broke the day before it was due to be changed) and assorted bits of rubber. Reliable, comfortable, and can fit a surprising amount of stuff as the back seats fold down. Despite being 19 years old it even has ABS, air bags and electric windows.

11 years I have driven this car and completed over 100k miles. All that it has needed is brakes, battery, tires and timing belt change because it said so in the service schedule, cannot fault it. It didn't start once because the battery was dead, it took ten years to fail. I failed the car on that one!

No major problem in 7 years. Two minor problems: - battery died in the first year - changed under warranty - had to fix a brake problem a few months ago.

The car is a luxury configuration and is smooth, comfortable and the body work has held up well. Only the aircon is showing its age as its in need of more than just a gas top up. Performance (speed when needed)is superb but my My only gripe is(and I should expect it)fuel! its quite high 21 to 30 mpg depending on journey. Its certainly the best I've driven for long distance motorway journeys.

A very comfortable quiet car, particularly for a diesel, economical, 45 + mpg. highly recommended.

Reliable, other than an air-con hose twice requiring replacement (a known issue, I think). Fairly good performance, though not as much of a power band as I'd like or would have expected from a VTEC (I think earlier VTECs may have had a more pronounced step). Really a four-seater and getting three child seats in the rear is nearly impossible, due to bucketed rear seats. Very large boot, so a good family car in that way. Comfortable for four adults, with nicely supportive and bucketed front seats. Ride is more 'sporty' than 'comfort'. Handles well, despite rather narrow (195) tyres. Could do with traction control as front tyres can spin-up pulling out of side roads in the wet. Only problems (apart from air-con hose) have been due to botched accident repairs by 'approved' repairers, one lambda sensor failure and slight clouding of the headlight lenses. Fit & finish good. OE horns are weedy and were replaced. Front discs replaced at approx. 55,000 miles Clutch went at approx 65,000 miles. OE exhaust still hanging together at 70,000 miles. Not that economical: probably 33-37 mpg, when used as a suburban runabout. Overall, it's a pretty good car, though its 'repmobile' aspirations slightly compromise its use as a family car.

My time with the Honda Accord is almost at an end and I would have to admit, I will miss it. It has been an excellent, comfortable, reliable means of transport. Magazine reviews criticised the handling, which I could not really fault, slightly understeery which is pretty common in modern cars but cornered without drama or fuss. Slightly hard ride over bumpy surfaces. Quiet, smooth diesel engine with adequate rather than dazzling power. Averaged about 42 mpg over it's life, despite no real effort on the part of the driver to eek out the miles most of the time. Another criticism; the complex dash arrangement, while this may annoy magazine journalists who sit in a car for one day, in normal ownership no problems encountered. If I had to raise a gripe or two; the lack of a spare wheel, stupid spray can and pump. The paint is a little soft and prone to stone chips on the bonnet leading edge. The CO2 g/km is a little high and rules the car out of my next pick, yes company car driver, and why do Honda insist on sticking with a 5 speed auto that hurts the g/km even more.

Very well equipped, reliable, smooth ride, good roadholding, great cruising car, comfy cabin.

The only criticism I have about the car is that the suspension is too firm for our deteriorating roads giving too harsher ride.

Second Honda Accord. Thoroughly reliable and comfortable. Only drawback rather expensive on parts and servicing at Honda garage. Would still buy Honda again.

Excellent build quality and reliability. I have had this car for thirteen years and apart from the engine management warning light on all the time, which is a common problem with them, the car is part of the family now.

Mainly use this car for longer journeys (have small car for local shopping). This Accord has 18" wheels which tend to give a bumpy ride on poor roads, otherwise very comfortable. car has many extra features - e.g. Satnav, bluetooth, auto settings for lights and windscreen washers, also cruise control and voice replies for e.g seeking nearest petrol station. Perhaps a few too many, but came with the secondhand demo.model! Next time would be happy with a few less features to remember. Pricipal benefits to date are reliability and economical service cost by Honda agent.
