10 years old, 153000 miles on the clock, the average cost of service and MOT in the last five years was 356 pounds it has just reached the point of beyond economic repair with a blown turbo that has filled the exhaust system with oil..... but those numbers speak for itself. was a little heavy wear on front tyres, but rear was only on second set, first set replaced at 90000 miles Road noise starting to increase which I suspect was an indication of things starting to wear.....

Poor build quality combined with poor specifications make the mark 4 Rio a poor choice. Terrible carpets, poor quality upholstery and finishes, unreliable electronics. A glove compartment barely big enough to hold a pair of gloves and a tiny boot (smaller than it's predecessor's despite the makers claims). I cannot recommend this car, a big mistake on my part buying this car!

this is a very reliable car and has excellent fuel consumption (50-60mpg) - the 7 year warrenty is aslo very good - only had a replacement screenwasher unit in 5 years. (I do have this serviced every year)

My recent purchase of the Kia Rio has been a positive one. This small car looks good and performs well and is economical to run

great little does what it says on the label, excellent back from kia from how you found buying the car to how the garage did when servicing the car

My Kia Rio is the very basic model: Manual locking, winding windows, etc, etc but for the price I paid I am happy with its performance.

I purchased my car new and it has been extremely reliable to date. My aim when purchasing this car was for it to be 100% reliable for 10 years and then possibly a few costs to maintain it. This has been surpassed, I have now had it for 14+ years and have just had its first mechanical repair apart from brakes and tyres. If I wanted a new car I would highly recommend Kia for their reliability and ongoing costs. Sadly the new cars of all makes have very small boots in comparison and my one pet hate is a large number of new cars have no full sized spare wheel or anywhere to put one apart from taking up boot space. I would never buy a new car without a proper spare wheel.

Good all round car. I have taken points off for sluggish first gear, especially when cold and visibility. The rest I am happy with.

What a real shame that the 1.5 Crdi engine in the Kia Rio is no longer available - it makes the car a 'pocket rocket.' I guess that we have to blame EU Regulations on emissions but it has real 'oomph!' - I will hang onto mine now until it 'dies.'

After driving only BMW's for over 35 years, it came as a bit of a culture shop to drive a KIA. Apart from the harder suspension and less engine power of the KIA, I am really happy with the change.

I would have no problems recomending this car to others cheap to buy, tax, insure, and as diesel ecconomical to drive

On the hole a good car BUT it has silly points that is to me. Would I tell someone to get one yes.

The car is a little under powered for it's engine size and has never matched the published fuel consumption figures. On the other hand, after nine years and 72000 miles it is still very reliable and has never let me down or needed any major garage work. I like it.

My previous car was also a Rio but my current car lacks the quality of finish of the previous one. It is reliable, however.

Bought as part of the Government "scrappage scheme" in 2009, and therefore a real bargain. This car has been a pleasure to own, although it didn't reach it's full performance potential (either acceleration or economy wise) until it had a few thousand miles on the clock. My only point of dissatisfaction is that I don't find the seats very comfortable on longer trips - anything over an hour or so and I need a break.

I purchased my Rio in March 2002 and i am extremely impressed with the reliability comfort and handling of it. After 11 years it has never broken down and is always a pleasure to get into and drive. I originally paid £7100 for my car and was hoping to get 10 years reliability from it as i had only had second hand ars before which were all unreliable, 11.5 years later and the only money i have spent is on tyres and brakes and my yearly MOT.
