MG MG6 reviews

It’s ok but it feels a bit cheaply made and the reliability isn’t brilliant and the costs for fixing a problem is absolutely ridiculous

MG6 diesel is an under rated car. Strong engine with 60mpg possible in the revamped 2005 model. It handles and drives well with quick acceleration when needed. Neighbours are a bit jealous as it’s better looking than 1 series Beamer or A class merc, just my view.

Owned the car for 8 months,main dealer car,ridiculously cheap for a 5 year old low mileage car with this amount of space and kit.Motorway cruising is a pleasure ,fuel economy 45mpg ,30 pounds tax.No problems so far,everything works.Cant understand why the bad press ,everyone wants to know about it, because of its rarity and are surprised by its looks,deep black and those rather fancy running lights,chuffed to bits so far.

This is my second mg6 and I've had only the front near side window fail on me. Apart from that this car is one of the best handling plus performance is superb. Lots of extras on the car and always puts a smile on my face every time I go out. Very good on fuel plus the tax is only 30 pounds. I will hang on until the 3rd generation mg6 comes along. Can't wait.

Comfortable spacious interior vast boot and good specification engine performance and economy cannot be faulted easy to get 50mpg at high motorway speeds great value for money - but remember not prestige

Had my mg6 from new2016, loads of spec including full leather, sat nav, reversing camera, cruise control, dab radio, etc.diesel engine powerful and not overly loud, fantastic road handling. I've had bmw's before but in my opinion the mg is much better to drive, in fact a pleasure to drive, it's loaded with kit, I tend to change my car every three year's but I'm keeping this, also the service you get from the main dealers at mg summit garage in Dudley West Midlands is absolutely superb.it's my humble opinion that the mg6 is is one of the best and most underrated car's I have driven.

The car has had one major problem with a failed engine sensor in the first year on holiday on south coast and it took ages to fix when on holiday and we had to return with a hire car and go back and get it when it was repaired. It took months after negotiations with MG top Technical and Sales Manager to get costs refunded. Since than there has been no further mechanical problems. It is pleasant to drive and very comfortable with a full specification. However dealer support is pretty poor as everything has to be referred back to MG for approval before any warranty work can be done - this causes delays and loss of use of vehicle. I know from the garage that they have problems getting MG approval in most cases and have now given up the dealership due to hassle. Even with new MG 3 and MG GS owners that I personally know are still experiencing problems with warranty issues as this is a regular topic during the MGCC and MGOC member meetings. I will still hang onto it until MG produces, hopefully, a car that MG owners are waiting for. We have independent MG garages that can maintain the current car unless it involves the computer systems!!!!

very under rated car

A smart looking car which is well equipped and a treat to drive. The critics seem to have some reasons of their own for down marking this car when similar comments on others are mainly ignored. It is designed and assembled in this country and if the manufacturer had more dealers, I am certain that it would become very popular.For the moment, I am happy to belong to a select few.

My car is the top of the range model and surpasses other cars in it's price/group range It is very comfortable with good seating comfort and adjustability, it has very good power and torque delivery curves balanced with good fuel economy, in fact it gives better fuel figures than any of my previous cars, including BMW's, in similar driving conditions. Running costs are very good with road tax at £125, insurance £170 with two named drivers and the fuel economy. My only negative comment would be that the first two gear ratios are a little high, other than that I am more than satisfied with my MG6, genuinely a car that makes journeys shorter!.
