I traded in a Saab 9-5 Aero which we had 11 years and never failed an MOT, so sad to see it go. The Avensis we bought had done 16,450 miles, so very low miles for a 3 year old car. It's as spacious as my old Saab and build appears solid. The 1.8 litre petrol engine is smooth and almost silent on tick over and the auto box is very responsive and effortless. The balance of the 5 year warranty (18 months) remains so peace of mind is reassuring. The Toyota dealer in Milton Keynes were excellent and easy to deal with, so Hopefully my local dealer in Bournemouth will equally be a positive experience when I visit for servicing. I've owned all the top German brands and both Saab/Volvo and so far the the Toyota impresses in so many ways. It does everything well and is a very underrated car indeed. Quietly brilliant and solid, and you just feel good, that ones driving a sensible machine that's built for longevity. By owning one for the first time, I can now fully understand why people buy them.

Have had Avensis before and found them to be practicable reliable and have a very strong and reliable dealership, these cars may not be as fun to drive as their competitors, or so says the motoring experts, but this car drives and handles as well as any I have driven before.

Extremely pleased with the purchase of this Toyota Avensis. My thanks to the AA Route Planner website, which permitted me to view cars for sale, which permitted me to view, test drive and ultimately purchase this vehicle.

The vehicle I bought wasn't particularly that one but a similar one from the same car dealers. it a nice vehicle and there is nothing reviewable about it. Thanks for your advert it was a pointer to a car I always admired.

A good sized family car with good handling and performance. A little disappointing on fuel consumption which is nothing like that claimed but overall better than my previous car a Renault Scenic 2 litre petrol car. The dealership that sold me the vehicle is very good and has serviced the car twice since purchase and quickly dealt with a couple of minor niggles. The car is very comfortable and has ample space for my family needs and has not had any reliability issues so far.

Very pleased with Toyota cars. Very reliable. This is my 6th Toyota car.

A fantastic car still great after all these years and I have to park on the road. Easy to drive and steering is so light. Big boot holds loads. No complaints but would say you need height to be able to reverse as window is a little high at back. If under 5'5" you may struggle.

I have been driving my petrol Avensis since 2007 and never had a problem with it. It's extremely practical with a large boot-space, comfortable and gives relatively good mpg, 55mpg on the motorway. When I am looking for a replacement it will be another Avensis.

I feel very secure and safe in my Toyota - it is so reliable! It still has the same 'get up & go' as it did 10 years ago and can get me out of any hazardous problems on the road. Apart from tyres and some brake work it hardly needs any maintenance - thankgoodness as parts etc on a Toyat seem to be quite expensive. Its turning point is not good but a little extra patience is all that is needed when parking in tight spots.

Rear View is not good, Too small to see back view. also while reverse unable to see on back. Rely on your instinct

Excellent vehicle, BUT it's almost inpossible to replace old bulbs in the headlamp units: no space for hand/fingers, unless you're an octopus.

The Avensis Estate (tourer, according to Toyota) is an old fashioned throwback to the traditional UK estate car. No problem there if you want or need the huge space that such a car provides but it is neither cool nor exciting to drive - it simply does what it says on the tin! The roof mounting holes for Thule accessories and the like are of course essential and work fine. The rear window wipers only do a fair job of keeping the rear windscreen clean and the front lighting could be brighter (but also has no option to turn off daylight running lights, which I hate...). The interior luggage space cannot be faulted and the reliability of the car is excellent, although the fixed servicing costs are rather high to my mind - although the 12,500 service interval is better than most Toyotas.

Considering that this is a larger car, its load-carrying ability is severely limited by a rather high rear platform and by major intrusions inboard of the wheel arches - I could get far more into my previous car, Astra mk4 estate. Numerous other weak points: poor lighting - dipped headlights are far inferior to many others, often leaving me dazzled and guessing where the road has gone. Only one each of rear fog and reversing light - the latter particularly useless. The clock - the gadget that displays the time - should have been integrated with the radio using RDS - Vauxhall managed to do this ten years earlier. Fuel economy is reasonable - I can manage 54-55 mpg (diesel) on predominantly rural main roads - but have to drive extremely conservatively to achieve it.

Very happy with this comfortable,(plus smooth ride), model. Previous model of Avensis had electric wing mirrors which present one does not have - that is the only negative. (We need to push wing mirrors flat in order to get into our garage.)

A great car, top of the range petrol automatic now 5yrs old. Am keeping it although I normally change at 4 yrs old, because I cannot find anything as good to replace it unless I buy a diesel. Low annual mileage means a diesel would be uneconomic.

I got car from new. Apart from a few silly warranty niggles, eg, the hatch lid rattled, the coin box got stuck etc, it has been very reliable. It drives well and is comfortable over long journeys. Servicing costs have been minimal. The biggest problem has been that the rear DISCS go rusty, and wont pass the Mot! now on 3rd pair. Car has only done 63000. I've never had a vehicle before where the discs need changing before the pads!!. Overall, I'm fairly happy with the car, and would have changed to a newer one by now, but Toyota have dropped the hatchback model.
