Bought second-hand five years ago. Car has done 70,000 miles. No major problems barring a replacement cv joint. Serviced privately by local technician using state of the art equipment plus top of the range parts and liquids. Fuel consumption poor, averages over 5-yeard 35mpg, mostly < 10 mile runs. Good driving position, reasonably comfortable and adequate accommodation throughout. Reasonable insurance and Tax costs.

My Corolla has clocked up 111,954 miles and, apart from a dodgy gearbox, is still a joy to drive. Given the miles it has done, the reliability and running costs are very good. It will be a sad day when I have to change it, as it is practical, comfortable and sensibly laid out. I am likely to go for another Toyota on the performance of this one.

I use my car mainly to travel to work which is just under 100 miles per working day. I have had the car for 3 years and have had no mechanical problems. As I do a lot of miles I drive conservatively and get a good 48 miles per gallon.

I bought my 1999 Toyota Corolla on 1 December 2001. It had done 48,000 miles. It has just passed the MoT test without any work needing to be done, and no advisory comments. It has done 208,300 miles. During the 12 years that I've had it, I have needed to replace the gearbox (second-hand, £300 including fitting); nothing else other than a regular annual service and tyres. Sure, it doesn't handle very well, and it lacks power, but as a "get-you-from-A-to-B" car, it surely must be unsurpassed. I'm now looking forward to another 12 months of trouble-free motoring!

We have had this car from new and has served us well .We bought in Hong Kong and shipped it over to the Uk when we left. The only problem we have is sometimes the parts are difficult to get as it is an import, showing us that not all countries use the same part no/code/type.

I like all aspects of my car except: mpg - only 37 and driven carefully outdated shape

Bought second hand around 6 years ago, and given reliability is my priority, it has been a success. Pleasant to drive and pretty comfortable. Still nothing fundamentally wrong with it, but approaching 10yrs old, and despite relatively low mileage think probably approaching trade in time. Taxation and fuel costs should be lower with newer car. Still happy to recommend though, and have good opinion of Toyota.

2000 Corolla 1.4 vvti I can not fault this car and would highly recommend it has a cheap second-hand runaround. My Corolla has now done just over 168k miles and in the 5 years I've owned it, it has cost me the usual service and wear & tear items (couple of suspension links @ £8.00 each due to MOT advisory, tyres (when due), wiper blades, brake pads and a new timing chain at the recommended 90k miles) and that's it. I do approx 20k miles a year in her and it takes me and my wife up and down the motorway on our weekday commute, and the car has no problem at all with keeping up with the flow of traffic. And being an older car, I'm still annoyed but not too precious about it, when people damage the bodywork whilst parked up in car parks or at the supermarket. It also has electric windows (in the front), central locking, Air Con, ABS and power steering, so what more could you want?

After 8 years, this car has never had any problems. Cheap to run and service, flys through MOT. Couldn't ask anymore.

Have liked this car more than any other I've possessed in 45 years. Very sorry no longer made. Will miss it when I have to replace it.

Easy to drive. Comfortable. Has been very reliable, so much so, that I am loath to get a new car.

My car is now 18 years old and I have owned it for 14 years. In that time it has broken down only once when a hole appeared in the radiator. Most years it has passed its MOT first time. It's cheap to run and still going strong. I am only sorry that they don't make them anymore.

Reliable secondhand car, had been kept in good condition and had low mileage. Had regular service with history, and been valited on a regular basis. Good car to run and economical on running costs. Due for service soon.

Although nearly 14 years old, the car always starts first time. I always have it serviced regularly and if the garage suggests changing a part, I always agree.I feel safer this way

It's a good runner but not really designed as a family car in a rural setting. Bumpy farm tracks do not agree with the low suspension.

have got what I payed for. A fast small car.

I have found my Corolla very reliable, comfortable and has enough space for all I need - including boot space for golf clubs, trolley etc. The road tax is quite high and I would like a more economical to run car but overall I am very happy with car and have been running it for 9 years.

A nice practical, relaible car, which is comfortable and pleasureable to drive. Two weak points: 1) The Satnav system does NOT take postcodes and it is tedious to type in addresses. 2) The windscreen mists up very easily, however this is quickly resolved with front demister. However this causes cold air to be introduced into car which is not ideal in the winter. Minor issues, a great car overall. I would buy another if I could.
