Great drive, brilliant in snow conditions - ski trip to the Austrian Alps in snowstorm conditions to prove it- very comfortable. Fun to drive. Just a bit hefty on the fuel bill, and no proximity warning in reverse, otherwise would keep it forever....or until one of us got too old to get going in the morning!

This is a replacement for my old 3.5 year old Rav4 auto. The old averaged 29mpg. This does 40 around town and 60 mpg on motorway @ 70. It is extremely comfortable with stacks of space, no wind noise at any speed. It is very easy to drive with my wife having no problems driving it and it is very responsive to steering and throttle. It is so good I will have another in 3 years time.

I love my rav4. It is very comfortable to sit in, and is nice and high so i dont have to pull myself up to get out.i feel safer being higher than the average car when i am driving. I can alter the seat and steering wheel. The headlights are good and clear. The only down sides are the runner costs in fuel. It is a 2 litre so uses quite a bit of petrol, and being a 3 door, hasnt got a lot of luggage space in the boot. But the good points outweigh the bad. I find it very reliable, starts every time whatever the weather, and even after its not been used for a while. The last 2 MOTs have been perfect even though it is nearly 20 years old. I would recomend it to everyone.

The car is comfortable, reliable and nippy in traffic, it also handles various road surfaces and conditions very well. I used it for towing a caravan for several years and it performed superbly.

Purchased this vehicle for the ease of access to and from the vehicle. Excellent vision and maneuverability. Down side no spare wheel and rear hinged door.

I have only had this car for 2 weeks, but I find it excellent in all respects.

Possibly the best vehicle i've owned, last car was a Mercedes that had inferior build quality, such as mild steel brake pipes, Toyota has plastic coated pipes. Toyota produce basic engineering to give dependable reliability. the engine has one of the fastest acceleration I have experienced. on the down side the comfort is Spartan, that it, everything else is built for the job in hand. My RAV4 is a two wheel drive version returning 41 mpg.

'And you traded in a specialist BMW for this'!! Said by a work colleague on first seeing my RAV4. It was the cheap looking plastic dashboard that sealed it for him - but for me my choice was a matter of changing lifestyle and practicality in the shape of a tiny chocolate Labrador, sure to grow very large indeed. So first additional bit of kit was a decent dog guard. I immediately started warming to the car - it's space; surprising torque; fuel economy (BMW=22; RAV=50miles per gallon and on a long steady run up to 60); versatility for carrying people in comfort on long journeys or fairly large objects; even the plastic and materials which are easy clean and, while I am careful, no need to fuss over the odd dirty mark. So on a scale of 0-10 I have always rated it 10 - it's what a car does for you that counts...

Generally the RAV performs well. It is comfortable, easy to drive and gives respectable MPG. I have only used it in mild off road conditions but when I have it has been pleasingly competent . In snow it has been excellent. I would certainly consider a RAV when I replace this model

One of the reasons for purchasing this vehicle was that I use a touring caravan. I find it an excellent tow vehicle and am delighted with the economy and performance when towing - it does about 30 MPG when towing, which is a better figure than my last car, which was petrol driven and did not return that figure when not towing. My Rav4 is very reliable, very comfortable, very manoeuvrable, and a pleasure to drive, with or without a caravan. The service interval, 10,000 miles, means I need to get it serviced only once a year.

Its is a very reliable car, but its only fault is the 28mpg I get. Servicing is reasonable and I have never had a problem with Toyota. My main like is the high seating position.

An excellent purchase in 2004. still runs well very comfortable and offers a great driving position especially as we live in a rural area and often drive in small lanes . Very good on wintery roads eg snow, ice etc. , feel safe and secure. No major problems , ten years old and still love it .

When considering this car, take time to look at the reviews in countries where drivers travel long distances, such as Australia and USA. The reviewers there have a much better feel of why buyers would choose a Toyota Rav4 when spending their own money. Too many cars in the UK are paid for by employers, which is why there is so much brand snobbery. So far, I am pleased with my Rav4, despite the fact that it has not received a single admiring glance! Discreet but hopefully reliable.
