The Astra suits the needs of myself and my partner perfectly. We do drive it relatively long distances at times and it is more comfortable than any I have had previously (Ford and Toyota). Fuel economy seems ok and it is easy to park. Not sure of engine size but rather less powerful than a previous Astra - slightly annoying a very few times.

The car was bought as a workhorse type car and does all it needs to but it is utilitarian and not the most comfortable of cars. It also has difficult clutch control when in slow moving heavy traffic which can be tiring and annoying. Overall, though, reasonable value for money and a very spacious estate car for its size, with excellent rear access to the space.

Must be satisfactory as I have always driven Vauxhall models

Rubbish indicators which don't stay on and no temperature gauge on dashboard

My Vauxhall Astra is a nice car. It is pleasing to drive, comfortable and reasonably fuel efficient. For most driving conditions it is adequately powered but does struggle on steep hills. There have been a couple of issues necessitating warranty work which were carried out quickly with minimum inconvenience.

Have now owned this car for nine years and have no complaints. It has obviously needed certain jobs doing as things wear out but has proved a spacious economic vehicle carrying my dogs and plenty of other stuff.

Fantastic vehicle very reliable however boot space limited when roof stoored. Excellent fuel consumption 56.5 average

Bought this to replace a de-funct Kia, so far proved to be a good car, not too expensive and practical space at the back

Comfortable, nice looking, rather underpowered for its size. Not great airconditioner or radio. Enjoy speed control and toggles on steering for radio and limiter. Great space .

I bought my son's Astra when he emigrated 2 years ago. He said he preferred it to his BMW1 Series and I can see why. Although it doesn't have all the toys the newest models have, there is still sufficient information. It still runs well, pulls away quickly, and is low maintenance, i.e. an annual sevice and replacements for worn items - even at 12 years old1

I bought the car as a 3year old ex Motability car with only 12,000 miles on the clock from network Q. 56 on the reg. plate I'm told means actually first used in 2007?!! Even now it has not reached 28,000 miles on the clock. I have renewed the Tyres recently (all 4). I bought a Petrol version as I never liked the sound of a Diesel engine. It is very comfortable with air conditioning and an effective Heater. I used to prefer a manual gearbox, but this automatic lets me take off faster when the lights change. It only has 4 gears, but is still very fuel efficient, with greater control for not having the 5th gear I used to prefer. I used to own Maxi cars having sent their specification to Sir Alec Issigonis, when I complained of my 1964 Oxford!! This car has everything in the best position for driver and passenger, and is great for my wife's Wheel Chair at the rear, and getting her in and out of the front seat. She finds it very comfortable. It is well designed for safety, and a joy to drive. I used to like a sun roof, but don't miss it with this car. The electric controlled mirrors are easy to set. It only requires servicing before MOT once a year because I now do so few miles. The seats are easily adjustable, and my "Shop a seat" trolley fits easily behind my driver's seat where I anchor it with a rear seat belt. As an 84 year old retired Civil Engineer I am well satisfied.!!

Lack of power causes problems especially when climbing steep gradients. Boot size poor& leg room for rear passengers cramped.

Gets me around in comfort. Easy to drive/park. Good fuel consumption. Not broken down yet.

My main down point is a lack of power. Once up to speed it's ok, especially on cruise control. Overtaking can also be a struggle.

car does what it says on the tin gets you from A to B cheaply with reasonable performance in ok comfort.

It is very basic with not a lot under the bonnet - no power steering, plastic bits and pieces failing due to age. It has been serviced and repaired by the same garage during the time I have had it. It is low mileage and the AA man (who fitted my latest battery) thought there wasn't much to go wrong as is the case with the modern computerised cars. It does the job.

Bought the car specifically with convertible in mind whilst having room at back and in boot. Disappointed with the small number of trips in which the roof was down due to weather, sunburn and lack of boot space when top down. There is plenty of room in the back but comfort is compromised because the seat backs are too upright. Boot space normally is brilliant but the roof takes up a considerable amount of space when stored. Additional problem is the heaviness of the car due to the roof and extra support needed. The sports aspect is therefore missing on initially moving from stationary. Although the car has been very reliable I will not buy another.

A good car but very costly to run
