A very capable and comfortable car, lots more space inside than a vectra but not as big outside as an estate. The rear seats fold flat and recline- move back and forth. Excellent stereo and easy to use infotainment with built in Satnav, even has a fridge between the rear seats. The driving position is good. The 150 BHP engine is economical when driving normally with 54 mpg on a mixed run to work (town, country roads and A roads, 25 miles) but will put hot hatches to shame when right foot is itchy. overall it does everything that I need in a car. The only disadvantage it has is the the rear doors are wide hence care in car parks is required

Great car for long distance motorway travelling with lots of interior room with flexibility.

This has been my most reliable car in more than 50 years of driving. It is practical in its size, has reasonable power from its Turbo Diesel engine which has good economy, and is a very well equipped and comfortable car.

Overall I am pleased with the Signum as a car capable of travelling quickly and safely across the country visiting family with journeys of over 250 miles each time. The hatch is useful for carrying my 2 dogs (in a cage in the boot) and the low boot lip allowed me to buy a hatch for this as opposed to an estate which would otherwise have been required. Space and comfort is okay but the front seats tend to be a it firm and make you wriggle on a longer journey. The adaptive xenon headlights on the car are very good and a massive improvement over those on previous vehicles owned. Car handling is safe and predictable with enough speed and acceleration for most peoples requirements. Built in sat nav is however poor compared with much cheaper after market units and frustrating when it selects indirect routing. It'll get you there but not necessarily by the shortest route! My biggest concern is the DPF maintenance with a lot of my travel off motorway. Not sure of the condition of the DPF but aware that it may become an issue, particularly with a auto box which by design, keeps revs low and at legal speed limits, too low to regenerate the DPF. Better guidance is required by manufacturers in this respect. I had to replace the injectors at 80,000 miles and the EGR valve at 50,000 miles. Not sure if these issues are linked or down to the driving environment I follow but I will not get a diesel next as costs and worry do not make this a satisfactory choice. Overall, quite happy with the car but would have chosen a petrol version had I understood the pitfalls of diesel better. Would still have bought the Signum though as the car looks good, does what I want and was not expensive to buy.
