A smart and very comfortable, reliable car that handles very well and is well equipped and fit for purpose, compatable partswise with the v70, I think the 850 is the better vehicle for the diy mechanic such as myself

Although a petrol car with 155000 miles on the clock, dose well on long journeys the 7 seats come in useful at times.Plenty of room for holiday & airport runs.

Totally satisfactory following a Volvo 265; overall very economical because they last so long.

i had a mercedes e300 td with 7 seats and it was a joy to own, ithen had a honda accord 2.2 ictdi tourer which although not as refined as the mercedes, was very easy on fuel. then i got this wonderful 2008 volvo v70 with the 2.0 litre diesel engine. this car has the luxury and the road presence of the mercedes but with almost the same fuel economy as the honda.

Excellent performance, comfort and reliability. Vehicle was ex police and covered only 58,000 miles at time of purchase. Passed last two MOT's with only one discoloured indicator bulb requiring replacement. Fuel economy can be reasonable if driven carefully, but not to be compared to diesel economy. Would recommend these vehicles.

I bought this car as an ex-demonstrator and have since driven 110,000 miles in it. It has proven to be an comfortable drive, very reliable and an excellent load-carrier. This is my fourth Volvo and in my opinion the best of the lot to date.

I owned a Volvo 240 GL ESTATE petrol for 11 years, the most reliable car I have ever owned. T purchased the Volvo v70 I own now in 2007. its had rear damper, swinging arm bushes new clutch and front wheel bearing replaced in the time I have owned it. I do not think its as good as the 240. but better than some other makes.

Does what we want, when we want it, and in comfort. Go to Ikea, bring back a sofa, and some shelves

This is the seventh model of this vehicle that I have owned My dream is a new one, hopefully one of the 4x4s. It drives like a bird, its quite economical considering it's size and I love it. I have driven to Nth.East Lincs three times this year, also to North Wales twice and am out in the car most days. I have it serviced often and so far it owes me nothing. Cheers Christine.

Nothing this car wont do - fast practical, 7 seater, huge carrying capacity, every mod con. You pay for it though. 23mpg new tyres every year, expensive when parts fail.

It's great for carrying large items and very comfortable for five adults, but because of its size it is difficult to park and to get through some width restrictions. It also has a large blind spot and one has to turn one's head to the right before pulling out or changing lane in order to doublecheck that no one is coming up next to you or literally next to you (as one cannot rely on the rearview mirror or wing mirrors). Petrol works out expensive as it requires Super Unleaded (which is about 5p a litre dearer), but this pays for itself in terms of improving fuel consumption in comparison to ordinary unleaded. Using Super in town it does 14 to 17 mpg and 28 mpg on motorways. The car is serviced annually and is reliable but lightbulbs are difficult to access to replace and the indicator bulbs need a garage to do the job. Other consumables such as tyres are also very expensive in relation to the market value of an old car.
