Honda Civic reviews

Bought second hand 7 years ago with 60 plus thousand on the clock. Had a well used life but regularly serviced and maintained. Just keeps going on and on with only tyres brakes exhaust and battery replacement. Will not die!!!!!

If the electric's had been first class then I could have said "that my black Honda Civic was the jewel in Honda's crown"

My 54 reg Honda Civic Executive is comfortable, spacious, economic, reliable and even manages to be fun to drive too. I take a number of trips each year that involve long motorway journeys - the Civic is perhaps not as refined as some newer cars, but it cruises quietly, smoothly and economically at the motorway limit, and I am perfectly comfortable driving long distances in it. Away from the motorway, the responsive v-tec engine and well balanced chassis make it a quick and fun car on country roads, although it is equally happy in urban traffic, where the flexibility of the engine makes it easy and relaxing to drive. Add to this its practicality and it is almost the perfect car (I would just like to be able to plug my iPod into the excellent stereo).

I have always been a great believer that the Japanese cars are best quality to own. Have had Toyota, Nissan and Honda all my life and not one has ever let me down. At the moment I have a Honda. Even given its age, it starts first time every time and has nothing go wrong with it. Very reliable.

Car is 9 years old now, but still runs very well. No problems mechanically at all. Always starts no problem. Car gives about 46-50 mpg. Comfortable on long runs, only downside is noise at higher speeds.

Terrific car as bought second hand low mileage. Much better than I had thought it would be. Followed on from a Honda HRV also good. Hondas are superb cars .

Excellent vehicle spoilt only by very firm ride. Diesel engine is quiet, powerfull & economical, & has proved reliable over 145000 miles.

Our car was bought from a family member at three years old. It has covered only 38,900 miles in 10.5 years. This Honda represents virtually the ideal car for our retired needs; it has tiny niggles, such as water falling into the parcel area when the rear door is opened.

I have the EX model with SATNAV which does not seem to have every street which is frustrating . I tried to put in GU7 (Farnham) and it only came up with options for GU9 , but I put Farnham in and the street and it found it! . Apart from the Sat Nav driving the car is great. Its comfy, practical with magic seats which fold up or down. It also is pretty pokey for a 1.6 diesel as the engine is very lightweight, The diesel does 65 miles per gallon. I love most things about it. and when I drove it in bad weather it handled very well . My only thing is the rear viability could be better but I would consider buying it again.

Best car i have ever owned, good looking reliable and easy and comfortable to drive on short and long journeys.

Very pleased with car , problems with brakes which honda garage could not fix, had to be left to independent garage to solve problem. Car is fairly expensive to run compared with newer vehicles. Good all round family car.

I have absolute trust in this car and feel that it is money well spent.

There are just two small niggles - the bar across the back window and the awkwardness of reversing Otherwise car is excellent. Comfortable, nippy, easy to drive and VERY reliable

Practical And reliable

I HAVE HAD AND DRIVEN SEVERAL CARS OVER THE YEARS AND THIS IS MY FIRST HONDA. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS CAR, ALTHOUGH IT IS FAIRLY SMALL AND LOW TO THE GROUND, I FEEL VERY SAFE IN IT. THE CAR HANDLES EXTREMELY WELL, AND REALLY HUGS THE ROAD AROUND CORNERS, IT HAS A LOT OF POWER FOR A SMALL CAR AND I AM CONFIDENT OVERTAKING OTHER VEHICLES IN IT AS THE EXCELERATION IS SMOOTH AND QUICK. IT IS ALSO A VERY ECONOMICAL CAR AND I'M ALWAYS AMAZED THAT I CAN DRIVE OVER A HUNDRED MILES ON £20 OF FUEL. IT IS ALSO VERY RELIABLE ON COLD FROSTY MORNINGS, AND THE CAR INTERIOR WARMS UP AND DEMISTS WITHIN 15 MINUTES. THE CAR IS ALSO SURPRISINGLY SPACIOUS AND I HAVE TAKEN TWO TALL TEENAGE BOYS AND ALL OUR CAMPING GEAR IN IT WITHOUT TOO MUCH DISCOMFORT. THE SEATS ARE COMFORTABLE, I AM 5FT 10INS TALL AND MY HEAD DOESN'T TOUCH THE ROOF EVEN WITH MY HAIR UP!! ALL IN ALL , A LOVELY CAR, A JOY TO DRIVE AND I'M SO GLAD THAT I HAVE IT.

Reliable and comfortable with low running costs, but a little lacking in mid range motorway acceleration.
