Comfortable but rear view not so good.

My Honda Civic has been extremely comfortable to drive - long and short journeys, very reliable, very useful luggage space and accessibility. The performance is good. Lots of helpful features - integrated gps, music system, bluetooth, cruise control, ishift etc. Rear passenger space is good. Whole car feels very substantial. Rear visibility is rather poor - should have had sensors fitted. Newer models have better fuel economy, but mine isn't too bad average 45 mpg.

I do think there are some design flaws. The head restraints should be able to be adjustable back and forwards, not just up and down. Some of us have to sit upright, not slouched, and in that position the head restraints are set too far forward and so push your head forward resulting in neck strain. Also the vehicle really needs rear windscreen wipers, (I'm not referring to the car design with the bar across the rear windscreen, which I also do not think a good idea). The seats could do with a bit more support in them as well. I also find that the visibility of space of the front and rear of the car when manoeuvring a bit awkward. Other than that, I am pleased with my Civic.

owned for 7 years, very economical, spacious, reliable, comfort ok bit hard doesn't soak up the bumps on todays roads so well.sluggish when pulling onto roundabouts or road junctions, but the engine really starts to pull at 2000rpm.have used it for towing trailer tent actually improves the ride comfort.bought car at 68000 miles now has 140000 apart from an alternator change has been good, air con radiator changed under warranty as some failed at 5 years also some had turbo problems, mine hasn't but blanked egr off anyway. would I buy another one only newer?...yes, but they changer the shape which does not seem so cavernous inside. The interior shows very little wear, the outside is still shiny but the engine is a bit of a pig to work on being crammed in a small space but you only need to go in there once a year,so all good really, initially wanted a golf but was too expensive the civic was an excellent 2nd choice and does not seem to have major common problems that afflict so many cars these days.

Quite pleased overall with its performance.

I bought the Civic having looked for a reliable, cheaper car than the BMW that I had owned. It is British made (Swindon) so felt happy I was ploughing money into British jobs too. The sites I looked at rated the Civic highly for reliability, cost and customer service. It doesn't make my heart race and the handling isn't like the other one does but I am constantly delighted by the amount of miles to the gallon I get, the reduced road tax and the on board computer. The satnav is even more superior to the Garmin I had before and I love that I can download all my music onto the computer and my car is now CD free. The heated seats are always a joy and for a 'medium sized car' it packs an awful lot in - space wise and technology wise. It is a nice safe option but even my car mad nephews like the look of this car and are amazed at the technology available in this model. Oh, and the rear parking camera always gets my passengers going! It is like my favourite pair of slippers.

A beautiful car to drive with the added bonus of eco running when around town which saves a mountain of petrol whilst still allowing you to enjoy the joy of the drive in normal mode for main roads and motorways. Practical and comfortable, my dog fits in the back easily. The dealer network is good although they would not change the SAT nav which intermittently seems to have a mind of its own (this was unexpectedly poor service from Honda who seemed to think I was lying and could find no fault with it.I don't like being called a liar so, even though this is my 7th Honda, I will be looking elsewhere in the future). Otherwise the car is good and, like all Hondas, bombproof.

I bought this car second hand, three years ago. It has performed well in city driving and between cities on major roads and handles all road conditions satisfactorily. There's nothing exciting about it though. It would benefit from more luxurious trims and interior features.

Excellent vehicle, a little heavy on fuel probably because it's an auto but it's very solidly built and very reliable. I've owned it two and a half years now and it has given no problems. If I buy another car, it will be a Honda.

Well built reliable car with both good performance and economy for a 1.8 engine. Very flexible seating. Fiddley Heater Controls. Poor visability when reversing. Firm suspension on rough roads, but very good handling. I drive it manually, my Wife in Automatic mode.(2 cars in 1)

I am sure that people the world round already know Honda to be one of the best cars around. In the UK they still have a Grandad's car image, but kids in the know are aware of what gems they are, and if they're of independent mind they won't care that they haven't got a fall-apart Italian number with all kinds of custom panels and accessories that, at best reduce the economy/performance/both and at worst invalidate their insurance. No, Honda should be celebrated by the young and old alike. Year upon year my civic passes its MOT, well it sails through, and yet do I lavish attention upon it? Do I polish it every weekend and service it promptly? I do not. By and large I abuse the thing. I can't remember the last time it was serviced, or cleaned, but it still goes on and not a spot of rust. It returns 40mpg in winter and 50 in summer. No that's not stellar but it is 17 years old and just passed 120k, so a bit of respect, please. If your stop-and-go super-frugal motor is still stop-and-going in 20 years then you can say that yours is the better-unless my civic is still turning - which it just might be.

The car has been extremely reliable, the only problems having been with the aircon system. It is still on its original clutch, exhaust and battery. The level of road noise has been the only consistent bugbear. The engine performs adequately, even when fully laden, probably helped by the relatively low gearing (19.something mph/000). The high mounted gearlever giving the walkthrough capability has proved useful on many occasions.

A good reliable car that easy to drive. It's let down by its poor ride especially for passengers in the rear seats. Performance is good and you get 43 miles to the gallon

Great reliable car. Been together for 12 years and just invested modest amount to get through the MOT. Worth it to keep on the road for another year. Never not started and a great car to drive!

Very reliable, Economical, Comfortable, Quiet, Easy to drive. Needs bigger boot. Bit tricky to control in tight manoeuvers. Difficult to judge proximity of obstacles front and back.

Civic has proved to be a very practical car; surprisingly roomy compared to its overall size. Very comfortable driving position. Enjoyable to drive, plenty of power from the 2.2l diesel engine. Good acceleration when needed and reasonable economy with a steady right foot.

I love my car and dread the day I have to get rid of it. It owes me nothing, has never let me down and is a joy to drive.

Visibility when turning on a roundabout or road junction is extremely poor. There is a huge blind spot caused by the windscreen design. I don't like front wheel drive, especially for parking, and have to swing wide when turning left into side streets. Visibility is dreadful when reversing. The rear window is far too high.
