Very comfortable car to be in, and to drive. Firm ride, good handling and the controls are laid out in a sensible and logical manner. 2.0L turbo gives impressive performance when required, while making motorway cruising very easy. Can be excessive on fuel around town, but more frugal on the open road. Have read other owners' reviews: poor visibility to the rear when reversing or turning right - but have addressed these by using mirrors more and angling oneself into the junction to take account of blind spots. Fully retractable roof makes for sheer driving pleasure when the weather permits - it is a very nice car to drive, even more so with the roof down.

This is the top of the range Astra. Performance is good from the 1956cc TDCi Diesel engine, and handling is ok. Overall MPG is 45, less than advertised.Drivers leather seat has an annoying sideways clicking sound when cornering. Leg room for tall passengers in the rear is not great.Boot is a little on the small side. The car has been 100% reliable.Only £30 a year road tax is a bonus.Reasonable value for money.

it isn't overly pretty, and the indicators self-correct drives us nuts, but its been reliable, safe, solid and dependable for over six years (and we didn't get it new) and has taken two kids everywhere they have wanted to go. The large easy to access estate boot has taken prams, scooters and bikes, hosted picnics, and shifted furniture. Its a fraction underpowered, and for a front wheel drive a bit skittish on ice, and not as good for economy as a new car might be, but it has done us proud

A beautiful car and at 150 bhp, very powerful for its economy. Never any trouble. Only our rough roads make me think of changing it.

I am very happy with my Astra. It has great performance and has always been reliable. I think this model is the best looking car on the road!

A good all round car that was not too expensive to purchase and is relatively cheap to maintain. Reasonable performance and a nice car to drive.

I downsized from an 1800cc Vauxhall Vectra when I retired as I didn't need such a big car. I replaced it with a 1400cc Astra expecting to have comparable performance from the smaller engine as it was a smaller car. Big mistake! I find that to maintain my speed on one slightly inclining road I must change down to third gear. The Vectra coped with the same road in fifth. It is taking quite some time to get used to the lower engine power. Other than that I am quite content with the Astra. It is large enough for my current needs (two adults and a Husky). It is quite economical, comfortable, and as reliable as I found my four previous Vauxhall cars to be.

I play doublebass and the Astra is the only smaller estate that will accomodate my instrument. My present car is my fourth Astra and my next car will be another Astra Estate.!!!

Extremely comfortable car but slightly under-powered when faced with steep hills. Economy not fantastic but adequate.

Very reliable car--I have had many Vauxhall cars and the engines have all been very good, also v good gear boxes. Very comfortable cars.

Could do with a 2 Ltr engine. MPG is no where near advertised. Not enough room between front and rear seats.

Car purchased in May of this year, its sole fault is the lack of a spare wheel and tyre. The foam injection kits supplied as an alternative are not much use.

although an old astra it has been a good car for the dog and hourse gear average mpg for year paint has faded and a few minor items such as wing mirror adjustor has broken.

I like my current car

An average car in all aspects but one that gives little trouble and is easy to work on

Since buying the car, I have enjoyed driving the car and in every aspect I find it is up to my expectations. I would like to see a little more acknowledgement to modern gadgetry by the provision of USB power points front and rear in the car. (Sat Nav/hands free etc (front) games DVD's (rear). The one great failure however (as with many new cars nowadays is NO SPARE WHEEL. Where are you going to obtain a replacement for your shredded tyre on a motorway??? It is no use having filler compound for a tyre that looks like a tramp's underpants! The economy and practical capability of the car is superb and the total package provided by Vauxhall from Demo to delivery and aftersales is excellent. Oh, just one thing I don't like, the "Hill-start" assist handbrake, I don't need it and it distracts me when it "releases" after I've applied the handbrake. GRRRR!
