It's a good car, nothing exceptional but good, comfortable, and reliable. It gives me a sense of security.

I think not. Previous to this car, I had three Carltons (all 2000 cc) and a 1.8 Astra. All secondhand. As I had been happy with all these 4 vauxhalls, I decided to buy, new, my current 1,4 Astra Active. I think the performance is not what I had been used to - smaller engine - especially carrying passengers and/or luggage. Three of the four passenger doors and the high level brake light on the tailgate have let water in at various times. All have been fixed by the main agent, except for the driver's door which still lets water after three or four attempts to prevent this happening. Cheap to run and reliable. My wife finds it slightly uncomfortable to get in and out as she says it is too low.

Very comfortable CD version. Gets 40 mpg on leisurely motorway journeys e.g. 60-65 mph. Around 30 in town driving. Spacious and practical. Quiet and refined cruising.

Very reliable, starts first time, economical on long runs, very comfy. Highly recommend

As a vintage/classic 20 year old car I consider it to be doing very well ! mileage is just 60,000 have had engine skimmed once performance is adequate for my needs. I like my old banger!! ps... it doesn't bang !!

Pro speed, handling/ride and look Cons small boot, reliability issues, poor mpg Overall not a bad car.

Comfortable and reasonably quiet. Very good road holding but fairly hard suspension. One major fault in 60,000 miles for which Vauxhall paid half of repair costs. Nice interior and convenient controls. Reasonably good performance. Altogether a very nice car to own and drive.

medium family saloon, nothing special but comfortable reliable and long enough legs for good performance on motorway journeys. The base model has slightly odd electronics in that it has cruise control and flexible speed limiter but won't tell you MPG or range on remaining fuel - these are extra. Odd, to my mind CC is a more involved gadget that MPG. Quite nippy in the mid range of revs but runs out of go quite quickly as revs climb - typical of a diesel really. Turbo lag is barely noticeable. 6 speed box is positive and quiet. Stering is pin-sharp and precise, breaks are very responsive and the chassis while nice and stiff doesn't feel quite as rigid as the previous (2007) model - cornering feels more "wallowy" but not bad. No noticeable over-steer with good tyres. Annoying "bong bong bong" if you have the keys in the ignition (off) and the door open - does not stop after a while and I can't find a configuration option to turn it off. I like the window controls, send them to the top and turn off half way through they will keep going. Window switches are the nice "two clicks for all the way style". Lots of nice touches with te electronics... pop it in reverse with the wipers going and it will automatically give the rear a wipe without you having to tell it. Lots of configuration options when customising how the electronics work e.g. interior lights on or off when unlocking, one or two clicks to unlock the passenger doors. Generous dash pocket and well thought out centre console - plenty of space for drinks etc. Built in USB and AUX connectors for the music. Built in Bluetooth hands free is just perfect although doesn't always understand spoken commands if there is a lot of road noise or the window is open. Mirrors are excellent - The curve on the door mirrors is just perfect. As an over-taking car disappears in the mirror I can see it out of the corner of my eye. I have no blind spots for the first time!

good size and roomy useful boot

Generally good - performance good apart from engine cutting out when braking. Comfort good for short journeys, reasonable for longer journeys. Space is adequate for my needs (pensioner and seldom have more than one passenger - not so good when family visit. Boot space a little restricted - will not accept a set of golf clubs without folding down one of the rear seat backs. Currently in £30 pa. road fund licence - maintenance cost reasonable to date. Fuel economy a bit disappointing at ave. 50 mpg - seldom use car for short trips i.e. around the town - most journeys are between 50 - 250 miles. Forward visibility is partly restricted especially in the region of the wing mirrors - requires considerable care when parking. Lack of automatic dipping rear view mirror is a bit of a nuisance especially after haveing them on my past three vehicle.

This is the third Astra we have owned. I like the drive and have found the cars reasonably reliable but thirsty. When I change my car I will not be going for another Astra as this will be a retirement car and I want to choose one with low running costs, good MPG, Road Tax snd reliability. Possibly a hybrid if the feedback is good.

Generally speaking a very reliable car, with reasonable fuel consumption.

had the car 18 months and would recommend the astra SRi to anyone. Friend bought one last week on my recommendation. don't know what government milage figure are but I get 45.5 to gallon. I suppose not bad for mway / town run at 80mph.

My vauxhall Astra bertone special edition is a great convertible that can carry 4 adults with ease. The hood is easy to raise and lower and so far has been very waterproof. The boot space is very generous for a convertible and is easy to load. Servicing is very reasonable at the main vauxhall agents . My only gripe is the fact it has low profile tyres, which have come to grief a couple of times in the potholes on our roads!

I use this car for work the engine is a bit loud at times. But it is liveable with. It dose around 45 MPG which I think is not that good for a diesel car of this size. The car is nice and comfortable to drive and well laid out. I travel all over the UK for work and reliability is good I have had no problems.

Disappointing. Lacks power in the lower range and is uncomfortable on longer drives.

Pros - Very reasonably priced; good looking; reliable and comfortable. Cons - A little under-powered; doesn't deliver advertised mpg (but then, what car does?); boot could be a little larger. Would recommend to anyone.
